Seems like forever ago that we got some new Date A Live news. Well we’ve got something.
Tohka and Yoshino’s new character designs for the movie!
Very cute. I like the Tohka design a lot. Seems very layered and casual. Good with the Yoshino one too. Green’s my second favorite color.
The film will premiere on August 22nd but there will also be a Director’s Cut Blu-Ray box set that comes out on July 31st so make sure to get that too.
Why do they take stuff out of the Blu-Rays? Now I have to download it again!?
So that’s all we’ve got for right now. Hopefully we’ll get some more new designs soon.

Sorry guys. I let reviews pile up. Darn exams! Fairy Tail and Unlimited Blade Works will be done as Double Mini Reviews
Since this is a short review. I’m going to go over the important points.
First up we’ve got Lancer vs. Archer.
So with Episode 17 we’ve got the epicness of Archer vs. Lancer round two. The battle is epicness distilled in visual form! Ufotable…just Ufotable. I love it.
Turns out that Lancer’s Master, who shall remain nameless for those that either didn’t torture themselves with Studio Deen’s version or read the VN, put Lancer on a Command Spell to fight but not defeat all Servants that he meets in battle but only during the first battle. So it basically lowered his stats while he fought all the Servants.
Wait that means that he fought Berserker and Assassin with lowered stats and still got away. And according to the Wiki, he killed Berserker like this with only a B Rank Noble Phantasm…granted he buffed Gae Bolg up to A rank with Runes but still awesome accomplishment.
So Lancer’s just lays down the beating on Archer. Just sad. The Gar chooses to side with Lancer on this fight.
Lancer is truly best bro. He would win the entire war if he had Bazett as his Master. Shoot. Nothing would be able to Gae Bolg and Fragarach
So then Lancer decides to go all out. He was just playing around before? Archer’s exhausted!
He goes up in the air and throws Gae Bolg, activating Gae Bolg’s second Noble Phantasm, the The Spear of Striking Death Flight.
And he throws it!
And Archer tries to block it with nothing less than Rho Aias, a conceptual weapon that has the defensive power of seven fortress walls. Wow be grateful that this Noble Phantasm is anti-army and not anti-fortress or Lancer would have cut through Rho Aias like butter.
He still beat it…or rather the spear stopped at the last wall before it killed Archer. This little part actually references Rho Aias’s legend which Hector the hero of Troy threw his spear at Aias or Ajax whichever you prefer and it drilled through 6 of the 7 layers before stopping inches away from his heart.
And then this happens.
That spear’s legendary!!!
Archer barely and when I say barely I mean like micrometers survives Gae Bolg only to casually basically say “Oh that was good”
He got the Gar back after that one. And after Archer notes that Caster isn’t watching them anymore.
Now saying we switch over to Caster. And by that I mean Caster and Kuzuki laying down a whipping on Shiro and Rin.
Not bad. I don’t have any pics of Shiro vs. Kuzuki because frankly it was too short of a battle.
But wait. What is this?
Oh Rin’s going in! Rin uses Close Combat and it’s Super Effective!
But then Kuzuki comes over and whacks her around after he beats Shiro. Damn Shiro you had one job!
But looks like Archer’s taking care of it.
And then he impales Caster on his swords…wow that sounds wrong…but sounds so right when you see this.
Why did you take off the hood earlier!? She’s freaking hot!
So Caster fades away while Kuzuki gets himself killing for trying Archer and avenge Caster.
Archer: 1
Kuzuki: 0
So then Archer does this to Rin.
When all you have is a hammer all of a sudden every problem looks like a nail. I know you’ve got swords and nothing else but gosh Archer can you project something else.
So now Archer’s free of Rin and Caster and ready to kill Shiro!
So we move on to Episode 18 and the hype is literally projected into the real world from the Reality Marble.
Basically the episode starts with Archer just dominating Saber because since she’s been fighting Caster so long and now she’s without a master she could disappear at any second.
Meanwhile Archer’s got two whole days to work with since he’s got Independent Action from the Archer Class.
Damn you Independent Action, said by all Tohsakas with Archer Class Servants.
Once Saber can’t fight anymore Shiro jumps into take her place. Poor boy has a death wish. However he’s able to stall Archer long enough for Rin and Saber to make a contract.
When their fingers touch like that I think it’s ecchi for some reason. I don’t know why.
So once Saber’s running on Rin’s mana, she’s all the way powered up.
These are Saber’s stats under Shiro.

There’s a reason that I say if Saber wants to win the war she needs to dump Shiro like a bad habit. Look how high those stats are!
So Saber gets into with Archer again but with those stats Archer loses almost immediately. But Saber you have yet to see his true form!
What are you doing?
And here it is. The namesake of the route and Archer’s Noble Phantasm, Unlimited Blade Works.
So when it’s time to get serious Archer’s got swords in the air ready to fire and he’s got Saber pin down. She can’t use Excalibur because Archer would project the same sword and kill them all.
So what to do? Answer? Shiro rushes in and hope for the best.
And by some almost divine mystery Shiro manages to survive but Archer gets away with Rin. This battle has too many interruptions so the battle between the Heroic Spirit Emiya and Emiya Shiro will continue tomorrow at the Eiznbern Castle.
So then we flash over to Rin and Archer and she has another dream about him. That’s odd. She shouldn’t have a connection to him since he isn’t her Servant anymore.
God I thought being Lancer was suffering but being Archer is suffering.
So Rin and Archer get into a conversation about Shiro’s naivete but Rin loves it while Archer wants to kill him because of it.
As that conversation comes to an end, Shinji and Gilgamesh come in and Archer just hands Rin over to Shinji. Dude do you know what Shinji does to Sakura! He doesn’t but still!
So the next day Shiro wakes up after getting owned by Kuzuki and then Archer. Once he wakes up, he asks that Saber doesn’t interfere in his battle with Archer. This is a battle he’s got to do himself. Saber agrees with him in the end.
As they leave to face Archer, Lancer joins them, saying that his new orders are to get Rin back.
And with that episode 18 ends. That was a good episode. I need to catch up again. I still have one more episode to do for Fate.

Looks like Bell went to Kingdom Hearts and learned Dodge Roll!
Sorry for the late review. It’s finals time at my school so I wanted to focus on them. I should have them out soon. All of them of course.
So we start off the episode with Hestia and Miach drinking…and Hestia’s already drunk. Not your normal drunk. She’s stone cold stinking drunk.
Then she starts raving about Bell.
It’s cute but she can really drink a lot. So after the opening, we have Hestia trying to get over her hangover. Oh the suffering.
Bell’s helping out and when he is since he’s making a lot of cash in the dungeon he asks if she wants to go out.
She totally wants to make demigods…
So she jumps over to her closet and takes a whiff of herself and tells Bell to meet her at the Main Street at 6pm. Looks like she needs a shower. Then again she should smell like alcohol. Not sexy.
So we move over to somewhere new. Looks like a bath house for the gods. Hestia just relaxing in the water.
Looks she’s happy. Then we get another goddess. Demeter. Go Greeks!
She’s freaking hot! And after that she casually says that Hestia’s still small but packing huge boobs. I like this Demeter better than the one in Percy Jackson. All she talked about is eating cereal.
So she’s surprised that Hestia came around to the Divine Bath house. Hestia explains that she’s going to meet someone afterward so she wanted to go all out.
Is it so hard to believe?
Then she calls out to all the goddesses in the bathhouse saying that Hestia who was utterly hopeless in the heavens finally got a man. Hahaha!
So she explains that he’s a guy from her familia and she gets all embarrassed about it and leaves. However not before Demeter asks what she likes about him.
Awww that’s sweet.
So we go to the meeting time and Hestia’s looking cute.
Stay strong Deven! You’re on the team Eina or team Aiz. Stay strong!
So it’s time for the date to begin…until the goddesses that Hestia met at the bath house show up. They even push her out the way to get to Bell.
My man his legend continues to grow!
Hestia’s shocked.
So Demeter was curious so she and the others tagged along. So Bell finally untangles himself from the crowd of sexy goddesses only to land face first in Demeter’s boobs.
Poor boy’s going to suffocate.
So Hestia goes on some Flash Step level stuff and manages to sneak away from the goddesses. But unfortunately that means no date today.
Hestia’s sad but at least they got to spend some time together and see this beautiful sight.
I suppose it’s worth it to see this view. Bell promises to take her back to this spot and next time they’ll have dinner.
And with that Hestia says that she’s looking forward to it.
Then we head over to Lili. She’s getting jacked by her own familia members. How low.
After they take her money, he kicks her down the stairs. As she falls she says she only owes a bit more and with the knife that Bell has she’ll be free.
After that we head to the next morning with Eina. The Soma Familia seems still desperate for cash. I wonder why?
After that we head to Bell and Lili in the dungeon. Bell’s fighting some ants while this thing rushes him!
That’s true evil right there. Bell gets the rabbits but that leaves him off guard for the next wave of ants.
Nice assist. So after Bell beats bunny butt, he asks about how she was able to do that. She explains that she used a magic weapon.
So after that it’s time for lunch and Bell shares his lunch with Lili of course.
So before they eat Lili asks for tomorrow off so she can go to a familia meeting.
So when she tells him, he’s all for it.
He really is a nice boy. If you listened the episode, that sandwich makes a weird as hell crunching sound. What’s in that thing?!
So we move to the tavern with Syr and Bell. Without Lili there’s no point to going into the dungeon so it’s a day off for Bell. He asks Syr what she likes to do on her day off and it’s reading. The boy just about jumps away. I know I have family like that. Ahhh! A book!
But she passes him a book on magic.
Look Bell even an idiot could undestand this!
So after that Bell heads home to read and apparently took some LSD before hand because goes on a trip. It’s very reflective of the things that he is and the things he’s fighting for.
So after that little moment Hestai comes backand teases him about how the first time he read a book it put him to sleep. After that she does a status update and finds something that shocks her.
That’s funny. So it turns out that Bell’s got magic now. Look at the noob! Leveling up like crazy.
It’s called Firebolt. Stole that from Harry Potter. Wanna broomstick Bell-kun?
So after getting magic, he of course goes off like a noob and spams it in the dungeon.
Such noob like behavior.
So he keeps spamming magic until he passes out. Lucky we get Aiz and her friend who’s name I can’t remember. And Aiz has some underboob going on.
Looks like some monsters might come up but they get there before anything gets started. Aiz’s has Bell in her lap so when finally wakes up he has this view.
And when he sees the cuteness of Aiz. Bell rolls out!
Rolling around at the speed of sound. Looks like he knows dodge roll.
So the next morning Bell’s under the covers sad that he ran away. Relax you didn’t run away you rolled away.
So when Hestia gets up she thinks that he had a nightmare because of the book and looks at it. Turns out it’s empty. Eh? Disappearance of a book?
So Bell rushes out to apologize and figure out a way to pay them back. That’s impossible. You know how much one of those costs. Probably as much as a small house. Far too much for the Familia that lives in an abandoned church basement.
It’s okay man. Maybe they’ll let you work it off? You’ll probably finish in ten or twenty years.
So Bell goes back to the tavern and apologizes while Syr be ‘I don’t know what you’re talking about. I never loaned you that book…’
So when it goes down it’s already been so no one can change anything so Mia lets him go.
We switch over to Eina where she meets up with Loki and Riveria, that chick who’s name I couldn’t remember. Sorry she doesn’t have much of a presence to be remembered by.
So Loki wants her some Soma wine but Riveria ain’t having that.
It’s wine Loki not your first born child…
Someone caved and it was Riveria so Eina could get some info out of Loki about the Soma Familia.
What does that mean?!
We don’t get our information as Lili gets pulled away. Those poor fools. She was wearing that massive backpack. How did they take her?!
So Bell sees her getting roughed up by one of those random folks that every town has. He crosses paths with that other dude that was trying to hurt Lili last episode. He talks about trying to steal from Lili but Bell ain’t having any of that.
So when Lili gets away from her meeting, she asks what was Bell talking about with that other adventerer but he says nothing. Probably to keep the peace. When Bell asks Lili what happened she says her stuff was nothing too. As they walk to the dungeon, Lili wonders if it’s time to say goodbye to Bell.
And with the episode ends.
Hmm not the best episode. That’s just me. I wanted a bit more action. I liked but it didn’t give me what I wanted.
So looks like the next episode is all about Lili. I can’t wait. She seems like a really interesting character so it will be good to learn more about her past.

Hey everyone it’s Deven Luca and I’m coming at you with a Spring Update.
I got the idea for this from my good friend Joe at the Reviewer’s Corner.
So I’m going to outline some stuff that will be both coming to the blog and some stuff that is currently up with me.
1. Sorry About Late Reviews
First thing is sorry about the reviews being late. I’ve been on exam watch for the last two or three weeks. So I haven’t had the time to write since I work at night.
Give me another few days and I should be able to get them all out. Unfortunately a good chuck of them will be Mini Review style.
2. My Return to Love Live School Idol Festival
One of my weaknesses throughout my life has always been impatience. I definitely got that from my mother. I’m also some what…okay I’ll say it! I’m cheap!
Or at least I want to get something less than what it is. Which is why I was so eager to get that Samsung Tablet and that Insignia tablet. Unfortunately neither worked. The Samsung tablet was there solely for parts and the Insignia tablet had a warped charging port. I could still use it but I’m not about keeping or buying broken things.
That being said, I’m focusing on getting a good tablet. An Acer tablet. I’m going to trying to get it from a local bulk vendor. I’m guessing that I should get it either before the upcoming Honoka event or before the Rin Event.
Either way I know I will be back before the Eli or Nozomi events at the end of June.
That being said I’m going to have a new layout for how I do the Before and After the Event posts. I realized that I was just showing you my progress through the event and not showing you a good way to beat the event. So I’m going to have some more information about the Event, polls that determined the popularity of idols so you know how hard to go to get that second card, and so on.
It’s going to a bit of work but I’m going to love it.
3. My Writing Process
I guess it’s pretty obvious that my first blog, Thief Fantasy and Other Mystical Happenings, has been abandoned. It felt way too much like a job and I didn’t want it to be like that.
But I want to bring some of the stuff that I’m writing about here to AnimeThief. So I’m going to write a post about I write a new work. Granted I’m not a good writer but I can at least tell how I write.
4. Deven Says
I’ve seen a lot of Anime blogs around talking about some of the issues in the anime community. I want to sound off about this. I’ll be saying what topic I’ll later.
5. Novelette Chapters
And the biggest piece of news!
I’ve been bored lately and I feel like writing something new. So I’m going to be posting every month a chapter of a novelette story set in one of my many writing universes. This one will be set in the Soul Saver Series Universe and it will be called the Dragon Crystal Cave Raid.
Let the blurb roll!
Rez Proudheart, a young mage living in the beautiful sky city of Epala, sits around his home, training and studying for his battle to save the soul of a friend.
While he trains, he and his allies are called upon by good friends, Ambrose Dragonfang and his wife Roxanne. They ask for help on a great quest to increase their Dragon Slayer power.
The mission: enter the Dragon Crystal Cave, travel through the seven Turns facing seven deadly Elemental Dragons to reach the legendary Dragon Crystal which grants massive Dragon Slayer Magic power.
However there will be mages that will seek out this legendary Crystal that only comes into existence every 770 years. Can Rez and his friends face the challenges and obtain the Crystal?
Sound good? This will be a series that updates monthly. I think I might be able to get it out around 3rd week of each month until the novelette is over.
I just want to say that since my writing style at least with more fantasy based things is more video game like. I blame playing a lot of fantasy games, SAO, and playing Final Fantasy as a child. There will be character sheets, stat sheets, articles that explain magic in the Soul Saver Series Universe.
So that’s it. I should be able to start Deven Says as well as the Dragon Crystal Cave Raid Novelette in June.
