It’s good to see you. How you been? We’re back. Both me and Danmachi!
The story takes place in the fictional city of Orario to when gods all came down seeking excitement, limiting their divine powers to perceive and experience the hardships that thrives on the lower world. Offering mortals to fight monsters assorted in an underground labyrinth known as Dungeon . Adventurers visit the dungeon to defeat monsters and take their crystal shards, which are used to craft magic items, among other treasures; however, they can also be exchanged for the world’s currency. The people of Orario join groups called Familia , who serve a range of functions from dungeon crawling to crafting items. Each Familia is named after and serves a resident deity. In a fashion similar to role playing games, the adventurers are grouped into levels, increasing their levels and abilities according to their achievements
Let’s get down to the main review.
Art and Feel
Note: I’m changing this section to Art and Feel because sometimes I feel that Art doesn’t really need to be commented on for every episode.
Episode 1: The anime is looking really good and the colors are well. I like the fact that our reintroduction to Hestia is literally boobs first. Looks like JC Staff remembers the Ribbon that caused a movement three years ago.
The dance is where things are really interesting. Everyone’s wearing such interesting and beautiful formal wear. It was really a night to see and be seen type of night. And I couldn’t finish talking about this episode without talking about Apollo. Something about him really disgusts me and he’s really creepy. But overall, the episode feels like we’re getting back into the groove of things…especially since the first episode was a recap of the events of season 1.
Episode 2: Not much happens here. The art is nothing remarkable but the feel of constantly being chased down by the Apollo Familia is done well. We constantly see Bell and Hestia being chased down and run ragged. It really displays the tiredness and fear that they have at the moment. My thoughts from the last episode stand about Apollo. He’s just icky levels of creepy. I can only imagine what he would do to Bell especially based on his original lore in Greek Mythology.
Episode 3: Not much happens here other than Bell’s training with Aiz and Tiona and saving Lili from the Soma familia. I do like the illusion that Soma’s wine delivers being an almost dreamlike euphoria, really sells the idea that this is supposed to be super addictive wine. Props to Lili for resisting it.
Story
So far we have a good story but not much action. The Apollo familia, whether it was planned or came at the moment, starts a fight with Bell, Welf, and Lili and a bar fight ensues. They get put down by a lv 3 adventurer from Apollo Familia and everyone goes home after Bete scares them off. After that is a Banquet of the Gods thrown by Apollo we get some good moments with Bell and Aiz and some other adorable moments with some of our secondary cast before Apollo challenges Hestia to a War Game, a winner take all competition.
Of course, seeing how Apollo is a creepy perv for Bell, Hestia refuses. And that turns out to be a really bad idea. The Apollo Familia changes them from the moment they wake up, each attack is getting worse and worse. Lili is taken back by the Soma Familia as well. It all ends with Hestia having no choice but to accept the War Game. Leaving them with a gross disadvantage in numbers and lv of adventurers seeing as we know of at least one lv 3 adventurer from Apollo. I hope that they can turn it around.
Episode 3 is pretty much all about saving Lili and a little bit about Bell’s training where Aiz gives him really good advice about battle. The fact that you’re most open when you’re about to go for the finishing blow is good advice to keep in mind for the future.
Characters
Bell Cranel
Bell is still his good old Bell-ness. Don’t get me wrong. I like the kid but when he’s fighting or talking about his dreams but overall he doesn’t have that type of charisma that I like in my RPG style protagonists or even my harem protagonists. I’m really curious to see how Bell will do this season.
Hestia
I don’t have much to say about Hestia other than both her speech to Bell under the bridge was sweet and her throwing the glove at Apollo was pretty funny and awesome at the same time. I hope to see more of her.
So until the next Full Season Review,

Extra Pic
A Level 6 Adventurer and one of the most powerful fighters in the anime but so cute! I get my pics from Zero-chan not Pixiv.
