Hey everyone. It’s Deven Luca and I’m coming at you with a Fate Stay Night Speculation
It’s how to get into each route so you’ll never end up somewhere wrong. You don’t want to be hyped to play Unlimited Blade Works but you slide into Fate. You want to see the romance of Saber and Shiro but then get sideswiped by Sakura x Shiro.
I know what you’re thinking.
“But Deven I thought that you can only go Fate then Unlimited Blade Works, and then Heaven’s Feel?”
Completely true but when you have a port onto a phone, computer, or Android device like I do then you might have a patch that allows you to choose whichever route you want at whatever time.
Let me use myself as an example.
I’m playing Fate/Stay Night and one of my favorite heroines is Sakura. So during the first few days, I made more Sakura based choices. As a result when the Route separated I realized on the 4th day that I was in Heaven’s Feel.
That confused the crap out of me. I thought that I was going to be in the Fate Route but based on that I had to assume that all the Routes are unlocked from the beginning on this.
So I’m here to make sure that you don’t make the same mistakes that I did.
To get into the Fate Route and have your love be Saber, your choices through the first three days would be irrelevant.
Except!!!
Don’t look at Sakura! She does not exist! No Sakura related choices. If Sakura’s falling off a cliff you do not make any Sakura related choices until at least 5th day.
If you end up seeing scenes in the Mato basement, meeting Zouken, Kirei talking about Kiritsugu, or if your first choice on the 4th day is either Patrol the Neighborhood or Check out Shinto, then you’ve slipped into Heaven’s Feel.
Now this is the important part. On the 3rd day, after Saber has driven off Lancer make sure to not to stop Saber when she goes to attack Archer. That will solidify you in the Fate Route provided that you didn’t make any Sakura related decisions during the first three days.
Next!
To get into the Unlimited Blade Works Route and have your love be Rin, your choices through the first three days are still meaningless save not making any Sakura centric choices.
The important part here is like to get into the Fate Route is the 3rd Day. When Saber goes to attack Archer, you must choose Stop Her. That will lock you into Unlimited Blade Works.
Finally!
To get into the final route of Heaven’s Feel and have your love be Sakura, your choices through the first three days are very important. They must be all Sakura centric. If Sakura even breathes, you better notice it!
Similar to Fate and one of the major reasons why you can easily slip into Heaven’s Feel if you don’t know what you’re doing, on the 3rd day you have to choose Don’t Stop. That will lock you into Heaven’s Feel.
And that’s it!
Happy hunting and loving on your routes and until you the Speculation,
Later Days

Hey everyone it’s Deven coming at you with the first Fate Stay Night Speculation and it’s about the three routes.
Now as we all know Fate Stay Night has three routes, Fate, Unlimited Blade Works, and Heaven’s Feel.
Each route deals with a different part of Shiro’s self as well as the people around him.
What I mean is that each route builds on the one before it. When you finish Fate, for example, Unlimited Blade Works assumes that you already know all the things that Fate taught you about Saber as well as Shiro’s ideals. As a result it doesn’t waste time explaining them.
This type of story telling is really good because it makes for flawlessly perfect reveals. Things you’d never expect in one route are hinted at and alluded to but come out at the end.
Also as said by the writer Nasu Kinoko each route has its own importance. The Fate route presents the question. The Unlimited Blade Works gives us the answer. And finally the Heaven’s Feel route gives the practical application and the results of the decision made.
In this speculation I’ll be talking about the three routes at length, explaining a bit of the impact, reveal, and the journey that Shiro goes through as the route proceeds.
First up is Fate.
The Fate route is the first one that you can play through and you must beat it first before you can go into the Unlimited Blade Works Route.
The theme of this route is love and strong idealism. During this route, Shiro falls in love with Saber and the question that is posed is ‘What is important to you? What are your ideals?’
In the original Fate/ Stay Night the end had Shiro return to his peaceful life while Saber returns to her time and accepts her past with a smile.
However in the Realta Nua version of Fate Stay Night the True Ending exists for the Fate Route. However it can only be reached if you get all five original endings in the game.
Note: The Original Fate Route had one ending. Unlimited Blade Works had two. And finally Heaven’s Feel had two, making a total of five endings not including the multitude of bad endings
In the true ending, Shiro takes a path similar to Archer but instead of becoming a jaded bitter anti-hero ,he never gives up his ideals and and meets Saber in Avalon to be with her forever and all eternity.
Next up is Unlimited Blade Works.
The Unlimited Blade Works route is the second one that you can play through and you must beat it before you can proceed into the Heaven’s Feel Route.
The theme of this route is understanding of oneself, justice, and the worth of ones’ ideals. During this route, Shiro falls in love with Rin and the question that is posed in the Fate Route is answered in this way ‘What is important to me is my dream of being the hero that can save everyone, no matter how hard it may be.’
In the Fate/ Stay Night there are two ends.
The Good ending shows Rin has Shiro and Saber as her familiars and the three of them live together in the Emiya house as friends and mutal lovers.
The True ending shows Rin heading off to the Clock Tower Association after her graduation and Shiro accompanies her as her boyfriend/apprentice. Also Saber destroys the Holy Grail but departs happy.
Third and final is Heaven’s Feel.
The Heaven’s Feel route is the third and final route that you can play through. You can only get it by beating Fate and Unlimited Blade Works.
The theme of this route is still love but the major theme is harsh realism. During this route, Shiro falls in love with Sakura and the question given in Fate and the answer given in Unlimited Blade Works are put to the test. The answer is ‘I only want to save those important to me, regardless of any negative consequences done to others in the process.’ Shiro comes to this answer after realizing his feelings for Sakura and understanding that his feelings for her are more important than his ideals.
In Fate/ Stay Night there are two ends.
The Normal End shows an epilogue after Shiro sacrificed himself to destroy the Greater Grail beneath the city. Sakura refuses to believe that he is dead and lives in the Emiya residence until the day she dies. Shiro never returns.
The True End shows a different epilogue where Illya sacrifices herself to use an incomplete version of the Third Magic to save Shiro’s soul and implant it into a puppet body made by Touko Aozaki(a character from the shared Nasuverse that all media made by Type-Moon are in). Shiro leaves a peaceful life with Sakura and Rider.
And that’s it! The emotional power of Fate/ Stay Night is what allows it to endure a top class Visual Novel as well as be an excellent anime and light novel.
And with that, there’s only further to go with the Fate Series but that’s for later,
Until then,
Later Days

Inner Anime Lover: Deven what’s Studio Deen?
Deven: They’re the studio that did the original Fate Stay/Night back in 2006. You remember. We watched it to prepare to review Unlimited Blade Works.
Deven watched Ufotable’s version of Fate Stay/Night
Deven: What the fuck is Studio Deen?
Inner Anime Lover: What the fuck is it indeed my man.
Brothers and sisters in Fate Stay Night, Forget Studio Deen’s adaptation of our beloved Fate/Stay Night. It was merely a illusion placed in our minds to confuse from the truth!
And that truth is Studio Ufotable’s adaptation!
This episode just started the hype and the hype can’t be stopped. I’m shaking from the awesome. I got the episode to review on Sunday and it took me an hour just to get myself mentally prepared.
Enough of me blabbing.
I’m going to keep it a bit short on these first two since they’re hour long episodes. Don’t worry. I’m not going to skip the good stuff.
So we start off the episode with Rin as a kid seeing her father off as he participates in the 4th Holy Grail War.
Side Note:If you want to see how he did, go watch Fate/Zero. Also done by Ufotable. These freaking geniuses
So Rin wakes up from a dream to realize that she’s late for school.
She gets dressed and walks to school only to realize that her clock was an hour fast so she’s really early.
So I’m not going to go through the whole day so I’ll just list through it and do a pic spam afterwards.
She meets Mitsuzuri and she asks if she watch the archery practice. Rin says no as Sakura Mato comes in. She leaves the archery area and sees Shinji Mato and totally rejects him.
He deserved it. He needs to get his ego deflated. She walks through the school and meets with Taiga Fuijmura as well as Issei and even our main male protagonist, Shiro Emiya but we only see the bottom of Shiro’s face.
So like I said, I’m not going to go through entire day since it’s quite slow paced. So I’ll just skip right down to when Rin gets home.
While she was out at school looks like she got a message from Kirei Kotomine…Kotomine…
Sorry he’s an evil dude and I remember what he did in the Fate Route.
Side Note: I’m currently converting Fate Stay Night the Visual Novel so I can play it on my tablet. I can’t wait to play it for myself.
Anyway Kotomine explains to Rin that 5 of the 7 masters have been chosen and thus only the Archer and Saber classes are left.
So this sets in Rin’s mind that it’s time to do her summoning.
So remember when Rin got to school really early. It’s going to come up soon. See she managed to crack a code on her Dad’s stuff and breaking the code messed with the clocks, setting them all forward an hour. Now that’s going to be really important.
So Rin prepares her circle to summon an Saber class servant.
Okay Rin you can do this!
So Rin completes the summoning and summons…
I didn’t even know that sitting could look so badass…
Anyway so Rin confirms the contract and what does Archer do? Starts snarking! I love this guy.
He snarks about she’s a weak master, her young age, and how she should just sit around in a cellar somewhere while he’s out being badass. And it turns out that because her clocks were an hour fast Rin was early for 2 AM for when she was her strongest. So she missed out on summoning a Saber class Servant.
Wow I’ve never seen so much snark so fast and I’d like to consider myself an expert at snark.
So just literally after barely taking a breath from so much snark, Archer makes Rin so mad that she uses a Command Spell to force Archer to obey her commands.
Note: In the Fate Stay/Night Universe, Command Spells can be used to force a Servant to do an order. For example, during the Studio Deen version Shiro had to use a Command Spell to get Saber to stop fighting Archer. You can also use them to give your Servant a boost in power
So after losing control and using a Command Spell, Archer and Rin shift to the living room to continue their conversation. After seeing Rin’s power in action Archer acknowledges her power and accepts her as his Master.
And you know what’s her first order for her Servant?
He’s a powerful Servant. A Heroic Spirit that has no doubt saved countless lives and done great things in his time. And you’re asking him to clean the living room…
See even he’s shocked!
So Rin wakes up, too late to go to school, and goes downstairs to the living room.
So Archer made tea and now it’s time to get down to some serious business. Unfortunately Archer can’t remember who he was.
Note: Heroic Spirits are beings from various points in history, either the past or the future. They can be anyone who has done what was called the ‘impossible’ in their day or was a person of great power. Just some of the Servants I can mention are King Arthur(Saber), Medea(Caster), Medusa(Rider) and Hercules(Berserker) and there’s hundreds more.
So Rin takes Archer out for a day to scout the city and it’s a pretty boring one so I’ll just pic spam again.
Now this is what you get when you do good work people. Massive budget! This looks like they threw all their money into the first episode! But you know what’s the best part! They haven’t! It’s just going to keep getting better!
So after that we see this.
Who is that? I mean I know who it is. I’ve watched the original anime but hey you that haven’t seen don’t know who that blond guy is. Well he’ll be important(read:dangerous) later.
So the next morning, Rin calls Kotomine and tells him that she’s officially a part of the Holy Grail War and to put her on the list.
Then she leaves for school. Once she crosses the grounds, she notices something.
Wow! Turns out that there’s a barrier around the school and when it activates it will suck everyone’s souls to power a Servant.
Think Kurumi’s Time Draining Castle from Date A Live. It’s like that.
So Rin resolves to do a little messing around with the mystery person’s barrier.
Unfortunately she runs into Lancer.
And cue epic battle between Archer and Lancer. This shows just how much awesomeness Ufotable can put into an anime.
So freaking beautiful.
No Rin. This is what happens when Ufotable has control!
Anyway the battle ends prematurely because someone is observing the battle and with the Holy Grail War no one must know. If you find out…then you die.
Just ask this guy.
And because of her kind heart(it’s there, you just got to look deep), Rin heals Shiro and she asks Archer to track down Lancer. At least this battle won’t be for nothing…
However it is. Archer couldn’t track him down so what do they get out of this?
A freaking battle against Saber!
And that people is what ends the episode.
I can’t breathe! The Hype! The Hype man!
This is going to be one of the best Fall Seasons of all time and I’m happy to be a reviewer during it!
Next time we’ll see Saber full out in action.
So guys need to come back if not for Saber who else…Archer of course.
Anyway Until next time,
Later Days
Okay everyone. Time for a new post and this one is about the upcoming fall season and one of the anime I’ll be reviewing, Fate Stay/Night!
Now for those of you that don’t know Fate Stay/Night. Here’s a little blurb about the plot then I’ll chime in at the end.
Raised by a mysterious sorcerer after the horrific death of his parents, Shiro Emiya has only just begun to help others using the small tidbits of magic that he’s learned. However, when he’s suddenly caught in a battle between two more powerful Magus, Shiro finds himself performing a spell above his expected ability, summoning the beautiful spirit warrior Saber to protect him! But safety is only momentary as Shiro and Saber now find themselves thrust into in a secret world of dark magic and deadly challenges: a no-holds barred duel to the death known as the Holy Grail War! At stake: a prize of unimaginable power. But can the inexperienced Shiro and Saber survive long enough to even enter the contest? First they’ll have to withstand waves of treachery and assassination, even as Shiro scrambles to learn everything he’ll need to know to stay alive as seven teams of Magus and Spirit Servants face off in mortal combat!
Now for the extra stuff, Fate Stay Night originally started off as well…an adult Visual Novel. However it was later adapted into an anime with all the sex scenes cut out of course.
Now what makes the Visual Novel so good is that it’s basically one of the best and one of the most easily viewed Visual Novels because it’s been translated completely. It’s one of the few Visual Novels that has been.
It’s considered to be the best not just for its anime but for its original visual novel. The visual novel itself was praised by multiple people as being one of the best examples of branching storylines and interactive storytelling. The complexity and depth of the novel, the characters, and story is compared to a traditional novel. Now that’s badass. It is still one of the best visual novels in the world. Why? You’ll see down below.
Now to talk about the novel itself. Fate/Stay Night has three main girls and three main routes that focus on those girls.
The first route is called Fate and it focuses on Saber. It’s like I said the first route you get and it must be completed to obtain access to the next route.
The second route is called Unlimited Blade Works and it focuses on Rin Tohsaka. It’s the second route and like the Fate route it must be completed to get to the third and final route.
The third and final route is called Heaven’s Feel and it focus on Sakura Matou. It’s the third and final route.
The Routes go in the order I just mentioned and there is no deviating. For example, you can’t go and play Unlimited Blade Works first then go to Fate. It has to be Fate, then Unlimited Blade Works, and finally Heaven’s Feel. However each story has multiple ends so there is no lost of freedom.
Now why am I making this post? Because there’s a crap ton of news that came out recently…last month. I planned on having this post out soon but hey life.
Anyway the first piece of news is that the Fate Stay/Night anime will return and it will be adapting the Unlimited Blade Works route. So all those nice little scenes are going to be in the standards of today’s anime! Yay!
Next up for all of you that had a fondness for Heaven’s Feel. It’s going to be getting a Movie!
Finally Type-Moon will be making a game for Android and IOS coming out this winter so you can stick with it for as long as you want.
Now notice I don’t really have much an opinion on it. It’s mostly because I haven’t watched the original anime or played the game yet.
Before October comes around I intend to watch the original anime and try to play through the game. I can probably only guarantee the anime though. I’ll only watch the Japanese though. The English used just about every voice actor they’ve got because they kept changing the cast with every anime or game.
That being said for the Fall Season 2014 Fate Stay/Night unlimited Blade Works will be reviewed! I know it has a big and long history with it and I’ll try to do it some justice.
So until Fate Stay/Night,
