More Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement News

Seems like forever ago that we got some new Date A Live news. Well we’ve got something.

Tohka and Yoshino’s new character designs for the movie!

dal_movie_chara
Very cute. I like the Tohka design a lot. Seems very layered and casual. Good with the Yoshino one too. Green’s my second favorite color.

The film will premiere on August 22nd but there will also be a Director’s Cut Blu-Ray box set that comes out on July 31st so make sure to get that too.

Why do they take stuff out of the Blu-Rays? Now I have to download it again!?

So that’s all we’ve got for right now. Hopefully we’ll get some more new designs soon.

So until the next post,

Date A Live Mayuri Judgement Trailer

Sorry for the lateness on this.

Kadokawa Anime has uploaded a trailer for Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement. The song that was featured was Sweet Arms’ Trust in You which was also the opening theme for Date A Live 2.

Now time for some analysis. I can’t really get much out of it.

I’m guessing however and my friend Josef from the Reviewer’s Corner has the same idea. Mayuri is fairly similar to Tohka before she was sealed.

She sounds fairly unemotional and her Astral Dress is fairly prim and princessy in my opinion.

That’s about all I can get out of it. I wish we had more to work with but we have to wait even longer.

Since I forgot Tohka’s birthday on April 10th, she’ll be the featured picture.

Date A Live News: Mayuri Judgement News

Spirits. Special disaster-causing organisms that reside between worlds. Countermeasure One: Extermination with force. Countermeasure two: Enthrallment…by dating.

Hey everyone it’s Deven Luca and I’m coming at you with some new Date A Live News about the summer movie, Date A Live: Mayuri Judgement.

We don’t have much right now despite the fact that the Spring Season 2015 is right on top of us. We don’t have any confirmed seiyuu for Mayuri. What the plot is about or anything really.

However we are going to be getting a fanbook created personally by Koushi Tachibana and the character designer Tsunako. It’s titled Date A Live Material.

Fantasia Bunko will be releasing the fan book on March 20th.

It will include:
1. explanations on the characters
2. a short story exclusive to the book
3. a dialogue between Tachibana and Tsunako about behind the scenes stories about the production of the series

And finally a discussion on Episode 0.

Now my question is what is Episode 0? Typically we get an Episode 0 for a movie release. You know it’s kinda like the prologue to the movie so we don’t have to waste so much time in the movie.

Now the other question is how are we going to get this Episode 0? My guess is that it will be bundled with the next volume of Date A Live. However the next volume is supposed to be a series of short stories then the 12th volume comes out. I’m not sure if it’s going to be bundled with the short stories or volume 12. I’m guessing Volume 12. You don’t want to put something like a movie prologue out with just short stories.

And to guess at when the next volume will come out…

Well we usually get two volumes of Date A Live per year. One usually comes out in the late Spring or Summer and other comes out in late Autumn or Winter.

Also we’ve got a new image of the title character Mayuri.

mayurijudgement01

She seems strong. I’m guessing she’s in the same class as Kurumi, Inverse Tohka, and Inverse Origami.

Also the movie will have dates with all the Spirits. I’m not sure about Kurumi but in the OVA Kurumi proved that she could behave long enough for a date. Granted it was a clone but hey. There will also be a Miku idol scene. Yay Minori Chihara singing!

Other than that, I can’t get anymore info out of this.

So that’s all for now. I’m sure we’ll get more info as we pass through Spring.

So until then,

Date A Live Speculation: Games!

Spirits. Special disaster-causing organisms that reside between worlds. Countermeasure One: Extermination with force. Countermeasure two: Enthrallment…by dating.

Hey everyone it’s Deven Luca here and I’m going to be bring you another Date A Live Speculation.

It’s been a long time. So long that the shame is well…shaming. I, who want to be one of the top bloggers about Date A Live, haven’t said not a thing about it in months.

That ends now!

So this Speculation is going to be about the Date A Live games created by Compile Heart.

So as you all should know there are two Date A Live games currently out, Date A Live:Rinne Utopia and Date A Live:Ars Install. There’s also a third game in the works that will be released this summer called Date A Live Twin Edition: Rio Reincaration.

Why are these games important? Good question. Before I answer that, I’m going to give you the definition of the word Speculation

Speculation-the forming of a theory or conjecture without firm evidence

So the idea of speculation is to make a theory without firm evidence. So based on what I have, I’ll make a guess on what will happen. That is the basis of speculation.

So now back to the reason the games are important. Now back in Volume 11, Devil Tobiichi, while Shido was sent back in time by Kurumi he met with Phantom. Now she obviously didn’t want to show her true form so she used the form of someone else. One Rinne Sonogami, one of the main heroines from Rinne Utopia.

With that the events of Rinne Utopia was established as canon or at least the True Ending of the game at least.

Now here’s where the Speculation comes in. My instincts tell me that the writer, Koushi Tachibana, has a little bit of say in the games which I can understand. Other than the anime, the games are what keeps Date A Live in our heads.

I also guess that the events of Ars Install as well as the upcoming Rio Reincarnation are canon events too. Ars Install based on the characters that appear starts a little bit after the second season ends and same for Rio Reincarnation mostly because Natsumi doesn’t appear and Origami isn’t in her Spirit form.

One thing is that in all three games Shido is trapped in some type of alternate reality. In Rinne Utopia, it’s the closed in Tenguu City. In Ars Install, it’s the Fraxinus’s virtual reality system. As for Rio Reincarnation, it’s going to be somewhere. We just don’t know where yet.

Now how does this work? What caused this events? How did Rinne come into existence and trap Shido and the Spirits in Tenguu City? How was Rinne reborn and Maria taken out of the virtual reality into the real world?

Note: How Shido got caught in the virtual reality in Ars Install is that there was a glitch in the system that Reine saw but she didn’t think it would affect the game

I don’t know these answers but we know two things. One these events are important because we saw Rinne in Volume 11 so it’s possible that Maria and Rio might show up in future volumes.

The second thing I know is the person that caused the events might be Phantom. She certainly might have the power but she doesn’t seem to have the intent. What would she gain from this?

I don’t think we can draw any further conclusions based on the information from the information we have now. I could probably do better if the games were translated into English. Unless that happens this is as far as I can without learning Japanese.

Let’s keep thinking and keep speculating!

Until the next speculation,

Date A Live Speculation: Who’s Going To Be In Season 2 Dub!

Hey everyone. It’s Deven and I’m coming at you with another Date A Live Speculation.

So if you don’t know then I’m a big fan of Funimation. I know they don’t get much love some times but I really love all the stuff they put out.

One thing that I like they have put out recently is the first season of Date A Live. They had an all-star cast with some new faces like Bryn Aprill and Barrett Nash.

Anyway I was looking around on the Funimation website and I found that they’ll be releasing Date A Live 2 some time this year…I know it’s not a definite time but it’s better than what we had.

So this speculation is about who I think would be playing the new Spirits and some of the other new characters.

So first up are the Yamai twins.

So cute and they work well together. So Funimation needs two voice actresses that can pull off the characters themselves and the relationship that Kaguya and Yuzuru themselves. The relationship between them is the driving force of that part of the anime. It’s the reason why they can be sealed and the reason why they’re so close. It’s because they love each other so much.

So like I said Funimation needs voice actresses that can pull off the relationship well enough and their talent at showing the twins’ respective personalities should be important but second.

I’m thinking that Cherami Leigh and Brittney Karbowski can do it well. I’m getting this opinion mostly from the anime Sekirei where Cherami plays the Sekirei Hikari who is a bit a tsundere and cocky while Brittney plays Hibiki who is more laid back.

I think if Cherami can put a few ‘thees’ and ‘thous’ in her speech she can perfectly pull off Kaguya. As for Brittney she’s already shown that she can do emotionless characters in Sora no Otoshimono as Ikaros.

Side Note: Still can’t wait for them to do the dub of the last movie. It wasn’t the best movie but I still want to see Funimation’s adaptation of it.

Next one is someone I really hope gets the part. I know she’s super busy doing a lot of live action parts but I hope she can do Miku Izayoi.

250px-Miku_spirit_ver

It’s Brina Palencia!

06

One of the main things about Miku’s character other than the fact that she hates men is that she’s an idol which means she can sing…Brina is a trained singer. She’s also sung a lot of English adapted openings, endings, and insert songs for Funimation.

She’s also played a wide range of characters. Although I haven’t seen one that would fit Miku’s character I think that Brina could pull it off.

And finally I think that I could do Ellen.

246995

I think that it should be either Colleen Clinkenbeard or Monica Rial. I’m leaning towards Monica Rial. Why? And this is mostly because I am a majorly huge Monica Rial fan…I kinda think she got the short end of the stick playing Mii. She’s got 1 line said in about ten or so different ways. I’m not knocking Monica Rial because I have massive amounts of respect for her but I think she knocked all the recording for that part out in a day.

I think she can really pull off a serious yet somewhat funny character like Ellen. She’s done it a lot with Mirajane. Have you seen when she goes in Satan Soul voice? It’s awesome and sounds completely different from her usual voice.

159

And that’s it. I could go into all the new characters but I have class the next day.

Note: I am in no way affiliated with Funimation. I have no knowledge of when the dub of Date A Live 2 will come out. I’m just guessing.

So until the next day,

Date A Live Review: Volume 11: Devil Tobiitchi

Hey everyone. Once again it’s Deven Luca coming at you with some Date A Live info. Except this time it’s not a Speculation, Date A Live Volume 11 is out! So I’ve got to be here to give you the review.

Also this post will be double posted on AnimeWithSky so tell your friends to check it out there too.

Okay let’s go!

So continued from the last volumet, Shido has gone back five years into the past thanks to Kurumi’s Twelfth Bullet, Yud Bet.

So once he arrives he bumps into Tamae from five years ago. After she leaves, Kurumi speaks to him via the Ninth Bullet, Teth.

Teth allows Kurumi to communicate telepathically and share senses with people from different times

After a quick bit of banter, Kurumi tells Shido that he must find out what caused Origami to go Inverse

He rushes over to his old neighborhood where Shido thinks of stopping Kotori becoming a Spirit but Kurumi reminds him of the effects that could have on the present ie. Kotori nor Shido would be recruited into Ratatoskr. After that the sky quickly turns red with flames. Shido runs to the park where he sees his past self, Kotori, and Phantom.

He calls out to Phantom but she is engulfed in Spirit Origami’s light attack. Origami fights against Phantom and as they fight Shido follows behind. However Origami accidentally shoots and kills her own parents with her powers. Shido sees young Origami curse and damn Spirit Origami.

Shido goes to help young Origami and tells her not to despair. She will give Shido her tears, her smiles and happiness. Young Origami tells him that this is the last time she will cry and the last time she will smile, and that she will keep her anger and kill that Angel no matter how long it takes and what methods she will use. She tells Shido to keep all her other feelings with him until she kills the Spirit and leaves.

And that’s the day that the current Origami was born.

DAL_11_02

As Shido and Kurumi ponder about how their actions accidentally created the current timeline events, Kurumi gets a visitor. It turns out to be Future Shido who just returned from using the Twelfth Bullet himself. He tells them not to give up and find a way to change the past to save Origami.

Kurumi gets an idea and tells Shido that they’re going to time jump again. However she doesn’t want to bring him back and then use Yud Bet again because it would be impractical and burn too much Spirit mana. That’d mean that there’d be none for her! Selfish…

So Kurumi tells Shido to go and meet with someone and they’ll be able to help.

Turns out it’s Past Kurumi! I think she’s about eleven years old here since Funimation says she’s about sixteen in the present time.

Aww...Young Kurumi is so cute
Aww…Young Kurumi is so cute

So after they meet Shido asks why Young Kurumi is wearing an eyepatch. That triggers this funny exchange:

“Please pay it no mind.”
”Were you hurt by any chance?”
“Please pay it no mind.”
“But…”
“P-L-E-A-S-E-P-A-Y-I-T-N-O-M-I-N-D.”

Awww…Young Kurumi’s a bit insecure about her eye…still cute though.

Anyway Young Kurumi pulls her gun on Shido but Present Kurumi tells him to touch her so she can explain to her past self. After Kurumi explains, Young Kurumi uses Yud Bet and sends him back in time further.

Shido is thrown back to before Kotori was turned into a Spirit. As Phantom turns Kotori into a Spirit, Shido yells at her and she’s shocked that he can see her. At this Phantom runs away but Shido gives chase.

After Shido catches up with Phantom she apologizes for leaving but she didn’t want to talk in front of Kotori. Phantom then casts off the noise and uses…Rinne Freaking Sonogami’s form to talk with him!

DAL_11_03

As in Rinne from the Date a Live Game:Rinne Utopia! That means that Rinne Utopia is a canon game.

Quick Tangent: So if Phantom takes on Rinne’s form , that means that everything that happened in the game is canon and is an adventure that happened between Season 1 and Season 2.

I am definitely going to do a review on Rinne Utopia now. If you have a translation of the game or have beaten it, please drop me a line on Twitter.

Back to the review…

Shido feels like he’s seen the form that Phantom has taken up before(which fits with the game because everyone forgot that Rinne existed after she was sealed at the end of the Rinne route). However he asks Phantom she knew him and she says she knows him quite well. He asks about the power he has and why does he have it. Phantom says that she isn’t going to tell him because Kurumi is listening in on their conversation.

Shido asks her to go to the bordering dimension where Spirits come from because his logic is if there’s no Phantom here when Origami arrives then her parents won’t die and the future will be changed.

However Phantom says she still has business to take care and can’t leave. She puts her hand on Shido’s face and Shido remembers the touch but can’t place who she is.

I swear this adds fuel to the fire that Reine is Phantom and I also think that Reine might be Shido’s real blood mother. Mostly because other than Tamae, she’s the only adult that Shido interacts with regularly and of course he would remember that touch. We all instinctively know the touch of our mothers because it was ingrained in us at birth.

Anyway Phantom paralyzes Shido has Origami arrives to fight her and then the paralyzing breaks. Shido chases after them determined to change the future. As Origami’s burst of light comes down Shido charges and tackles Origami’s parents. However the chapter ends as Shido loses consciousness.

Okay I’m not going to rewrite the novel. I’ve been writing for three hours! I’m going to summarize!

Shido wakes back in his bed and finds everything back to normal save one thing. Origami doesn’t go to Raizen anymore. And there’s a new pure black Spirit that appears when Spirits show up. A new timeline where Origami’s parents didn’t get killed during the Tengu Fire has been made.

This is Devil Origami or Inverse Origami, which ever term you prefer.

See when Shido tackled Origami’s parents it saved them and gave Origami a relatively normal life…even though her parents died in a traffic accident four years later…you can’t win them all Shido.

Anyway because of a whole a lot of time manipulation…which a lot of folks on the website said sucks because they didn’t get it…there are technically two Origamis.

Let me explain. The common theory about time is Einstein’s Theory of Relativity which states that past events can’t be changed because they have already happened. However Shido changed history but the Origami of the past time line still exists because of Einstein’s theory. However now she exist as a split personality within the Origami of this timeline who is a far kind and warmer person than the original.

So whenever Origami senses Spirit mana she’ll pass out and the Original Origami will awaken in her Inverse form and attack them.

Got it? If not you can leave questions below and I’ll answer them. 🙂

Anyway after Shido realizes that Origami has changed, he immediately tells Kotori that Origami is the Spirit Devil. Kotori and Shido set up a date right away.

They go out on a date where both the Current Origami and Shido realize that the new Origami still has traits and memories of the old one. At the end of the date, Shido tries to kiss Origami but the banastar they’re leaning on at the park breaks. Shido catches her but he cuts his arm. However Origami fixates on the healing injury and goes into Inverse mode.

The Spirits at the Spirit Apartments notice the explosion of Spirit mana and head out to help. They all work together to try and seal Origami.

There’s a little joke here with Natsumi and Miku. Natsumi uses her ability to copy Army Breaker Diva, one of Miku’s abilities, and plays March to give Shido more power. Miku tells Natsumi to pay her copyright royalities later. Hahaha oh Miku that’s why you’re at the top of my favorite Date A Live girls list.

Anyway, the New Origami finds herself in her inner world with the old Origami and she’s getting blasted with all the memories and all the despair that the old Origami felt. The memories are nearly too much and she needs help. By reaching out to Shido and him reaching out to save her, Origami’s mind is calmed.

DAL_11_10

After that they kiss and Origami is sealed. And for the first time, Origami smiles a real and true smile.

DAL_11_c05

After that Origami returns to Raizen as a student and all the Spirits’ memories of the past world have returned. Origami is a lot warmer and friendlier with the Spirits now and it’s explained that now the new Origami has gained all the powers of the old one as well as her memories.

As the novel ends, Origami says to Tohka that even though she’s changed her look on Spirits as long as she goes after Shido the Princess and the Angel will always be enemies.

They all laugh as Origami and Shido share a smile between them as they look forward to spending more time together.

Now that’s over time for the review.

I basically loved it. Mostly because I actually understand time travel. However there are some people that said that Koshi Tachibana stretched things to pull things back to the status quo. I disagree. This provided a time for Origami to grow as a character in a time where she was at her lowest point. I personally enjoyed it.

Also I have something to say about Kurumi. If you’re going to eat Shido do it soon girl! He’s sealed 8 Spirits if you count the Yamai sisters as separate or 7 if you count them as one. And he can use all of their powers. I’m not saying that Kurumi would lose but I’m saying it ain’t going to be so easy now.

So that’s all for this review. With this stuff with Rinne becoming a canon character, I need to get out a review with Rinne Utopia. I’ll also be doing a Speculation about what I think the Date A Live Movie is going to be about. Also I just found out what the OVA coming out in December’s going to be. I’ll have a review on that coming soon. It’s an adapdation of one of the short stories that Tachibana wrote about Kurumi. It’s something I can’t wait for.

So until the next Review and the next Speculation,
