Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 60: And Boom Goes the Dynamite…Again

(Inner Writer: You missed a lot of Fairy Tail reviews. What were you doing?!

Deven: Fairy Tail reviews? Why this is the first I have heard of this? Did something happen?

Inner Writer: You know exactly what happened? You-

Deven: What Fairy Tail Reviews? Then you all say “I have no idea what you’re talking about Deven.” And we all move on. Got it? Alright. Let’s start.)

So ignoring that little thing, I’m back to regular with my reviews. Sorry for the lapse. Finals are hell. So after the events of the Sun Village arc, all you need to know is that Sun Village is saved.

Side Note: You kinda expected it with the Song of the Fairies episode but I’m still shocked that they changed it. For those that didn’t know or didn’t read the manga, most of the chapter was done in a hot spring. It was very fanservicey and even Mashima himself said that he went too far. Remember that time where Natsu accidentally beat Erza to the ground. It was the same in the manga save Erza was naked. Naked hot girl with her butt up in the air like that equals very large implications.

But anyway…And that the Nine Demon Gates have been introduced.

They are as follows:

Silver the Absolute Zero

Kyoka, Goddess of the Slave Planet

Evil Utaha-senpai!!! I always knew it was wise to be on Team Kato and now I have full proof. She turned evil! The joke is that Utaha and Kyoka both have Ai Kayano as their seiyuu.

Also I have some annoyances with how they translated her title. The Mangastream translated it as “Slave Star Angel” which I like a lot more than “Goddess of the Slave Planet”

Her voice is still as sexy as nothing I can imagine.

Franmalth, the Armored.

Good voice and it fits. His title is similar to the Mangastream one which was the Armored Shell.

Torafuzar, the Dark

Excellently done voice and the title is pretty much the same. He went from being the Darkness to the Dark. Not much of a change.

Ezel, the Dojigiri

I’m kinda happy that they didn’t translate it because it would be a major spoiler for the arc. But the Mangastream translation was Child Slicer…and the only major character who’s a child in this manga is Wendy. Fight confirmed!

Seilah, the Goddess of the Chill Moon

Nooo! I will not accept this as the official translation! It’s Sayla and that’s what I’m going to say in my reviews! Also another beautiful voice. Aki Toyosaki, your voice is like gold! Also I can’t wait for that scene…ah Ai Kayano and Aki Toyosaki…I can’t wait for the implications of it.

Finally Keyes, the Black Archbishop.

I can deal with the title change from Black Priest to Black Archbishop. The voice…ahahahah oh god it hurts. The comedy in this is too much. He’s voiced by Joji Nakata or Kirei Kotomine.

So Kotomine went from being an evil priest…to an evil demon priest…I see this more as a lateral move not much of a change.

We also have Jackal but that’s for later.

Now you’re caught up. Let’s get up to this week’s episode.

The battle between Laxus and Tempesta of the Nine Demon Gates starts and…it’s over really quick.

Maybe this arc is going to be easy, said by no one that read the manga.

However Tempesta’s got some tricks up his sleeves…he has no sleeves…he’s got tricks up something darn it!

Tempesta turns into anti-Ethernano particles which are an absolute poison to wizards. It leaves Yajima, Evergreen, Freed, Bickslow, and even Laxus on the ground coughing and nearly dead. All while Tempesta gets go to back to HQ.

So in order to save the townspeople Laxus uses his Dragon Slayer lungs to breath in the poison. He orders Freed to bring everyone back to Fairy Tail.

We get the rundown of the situation and we learn that even though Laxus put everything into saving everyone the number of people affected by the Anti-Ethernano Particles is still rising. 119 are confirmed dead.

And with so many member of Fairy Tail down Natsu says only one thing.

Sounded much cooler the first time he did it back in the Phantom Lord Arc but now it seems too overused to me.

So after the commercial everyone and their granny is trying to stop Natsu from running off and trying to find Tartarus. Mostly because they have no idea where they are.

Then we move to the Tartarus guild hall where we see Tempesta getting healed but we also see this.

She’s becoming a demon! Do you really want to beat Erza that bad?

So after we get back from Tartarus we see that Loke’s back and he’s got info. The best plan for right now seeing as the Council members, present and past are being attack is to guard them. Luckily Loke’s got some addresses of former members.

We all know what he was doing. Council members with hot daughters or granddaughters with Loke!

Loke tried to stop being a player but it just doesn’t take for very long.

So we head over to Michello’s house where Lucy, Natsu, Wendy, Happy, and Carla are protecting him. And we see his granddaughter who is quite cute.

Good man Loke. Leave no female unflirted with.

She has to admit that my man is a legend.

So Natsu smells something off and tells everyone to get down only to find Jackal here, ready to kill Michello.

Good ending but I wish they used the Mangastream line. “It’s time to start putting Tartarus in body bags.” So epically cool but this one works too.

So that’s all we’ve got with this review. I can’t wait for the epicness that is Natsu vs. Jackal.

Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 55: Punting the Kids and Red, Blue, and Blond

I like messing around with kids as much as the next guy but Minnie takes it too far. Yeah I’m going to make that a thing.

So we start off the episode with a flashback of the events up to this point. Clever A-1, trying to take up time so you don’t have to do as much.

After the opening we go to Lucy, Wendy, and Flare. Flare epically trolls Lucy about her being possibly being a stalker before getting serious.

And when the treasure hunters say they want the Eternal Flame for themsleves. They are just digging a fresh grave in this place.

So now it’s Flare, Lucy, and Wendy vs. the Treasure Hunters.

Things get awesome.

And the battle ends with a Lucy and Virgo Kick!

The ultimate technique has been reborn!

Like I said it’s the ultimate technique! Secret Freaking Art more like it! I don’t even think that Saber’s Excalibur can be it!

Meanwhile we go to Happy and Carla, trying to find Natsu. Unfortunately some type of weird bird is flying in the sky so they’ve got to land before they become nothing more than cat skins and bones.

Then we go over to Erza and Minerva and it is just horrible. Minnie why you beating down a kid.

Natsu’s still running towards the voice. And we head over to the girls.

We find out more about Flare. Turns out that she was born in the Sun Village.

They loved her but she always feel alone there even though she was loved. So she decided to go to the mainland. And she ended up meeting up with Raven Tail. Since they hated Fairy Tail and Flare didn’t know any better, she did what they did. She apologizes to Lucy once again for the things that she did during the Grand Magic Games.

We go back to Erza’s beating on Minerva’s side. She definitely needs to get back to her adult form soon or she’ll end up getting killed.

Then we go over to Gray who’s just chilling and walking around, looking for everyone else. Then Doriate, Minerva’s teammate, comes around and turns him into a kid.

Then he starts up the fight. Gray you must fight!

That’s to be expected. There’s ice, ruined buildings, and a demon like monster and now he’s a kid again. Of course he’d flash back to those times when his parents and Ul died.

It’s okay man. It’s not real!

It’s Ultear? She talks to Gray and restored his confidence and courage for the fight. And he’s able to freeze Doriate’s hand and get free, readying to fight Doriate.

Meanwhile Flare, Lucy, and Wendy start heading over to the Eternal Flame, hoping that it will be able unthaw the ice. Natsu’s heading that way as well.

And with that the episode ends.

Now that’s a good episode. Not a bad one. I like this arc but not as much the upcoming Tarturus Arc. The jokes in the next episode are going to hilarious. Let’s just say that Minerva has something that you wouldn’t expect her to have.

Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 53: Apparently Treasure Hunting Is Awesome

I didn’t expect treasure hunters to actually be good fighters. Hey you learn something new everyday.

So we get to the Sun Village where we see everything and the fact that Sun Village is a village of giants. Of course Natsu and Happy are shocked by other things.

Wendy’s lack of a chest is the biggest and longest running joke in Fairy Tail. It got more hilarious after reading Chapter 428 when Mashima had Wendy wash off the sweat on Juvia’s body. Wendy got sad after seeing how developed Juvia is…why the hell did Gray leave again? He had all of that hotness?!

Anyway Gray looks at the giants and all the frozen landscapes and has a flashback to not only his parents’ death by Deliora, Ul’s death, and Ultear’s death.

Being Gray is suffering especially in this upcoming Sun Village and Tarturus Arc. Mashima just enjoys torturing Gray so much.

Hmm anyway. Both Natsu and Gray try to melt the ice but nothing works.

However the treasure hunter guild Sylph Labyrinth arrives and mentions they’re going to try and take the Eternal Flame which protects the Sun Village.

Eh? That stuff that Lyon used back in the Galuna arc?

I can’t wait for this line to be in English. It’d be so funny. Natsu, Gray, Wendy, and Lucy run after the fleeing Treasure Hunters while Erza stays behind to do some research.

Then we go up into the air and see the members of the Dark Guild, Succubus Eye. And guess what Minerva’s a member! All I care is that Kikuko Inoue has returned to Fairy Tail!

We switch back to Fairy Tail vs. Sylph Labyrinth.

I didn’t expect that they’d be this good.

So we go over to Erza who looks around the village and ends up figuring out where the Eternal Flame is. She keeps looking around but ends up getting turned into a child.

Ain’t she cute?

And with that the episode ends. I can’t wait for the next episode since one of my favorite jokes comes up next as well.

It’s a good episode and it’s even better that Fairy Tail’s back on the canon level.

Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 52: Return to the Canon!

Sorry for this being so late. I’m also sorry for this review being short. I originally intended for this to be a standard review but I’ve got a lot of stuff to do. Writing a chapter for Scribophile, trying to make sure I catch up with my reviews, and general school stuff.

I had a schedule but I got messed up so I need to finish all this stuff by Friday so I can reset. Hopefully I’ll be able to get my reviews out faster next week.

So we start off this episode with all the sexy girls of Fairy Tail in the Fairy Tail bathhouse…rejoice my brothers and sisters of that persuasion! Lucy and Mirajane’s hotness is out there for us to see!

Meanwhile some of the guys are on the other side listening. Ah the suffering.

While that happens Lucy talks about how Gray and Natsu are on a job together and Erza and Wendy are on a job together to get some sweets.

Let’s check in on them.

Ah Rave Master reference but done so bad. Hear that. It’s the last Rave Master fan giving up the Fairy Tail anime.

But then someone notices that Erza isn’t gone, she’s in the bath with them.

Flare Corona! Ah Shizuka Ito… I like her as Flare but I think she really shines as Luvia Edelfelt from Fate/Kaleid.

Anyway the other girls try to attack Flare but then Lucy sticks up for her and says that she isn’t a bad person.

Then Lucy thanks her for saving her butt during the Dragon Attack. After that Lucy offers to put in a good word with Makarov so Flare can join Fairy Tail.

Well didn’t expect that but Juvia’s happy.

Juvia forget being a mage and become a novelist because you have a hell of an imagination.

So after a nice bath, Lucy heads home only to find that Erza and Wendy broke her house.

How does everyone get in here?

Note: An omake revealed that Mirajane has a key to Lucy’s apartment that she loans out to various Fairy Tail members.

Ah that makes so much sense. Mirajane you’re such a sexy troll.

Anyway the girls start wondering about Natsu and Grey who should have been back from their job a few days ago. They head out to see what’s up and they find Happy.

Wow looks like someone’s gone through the ringer. Was the monster too hard to beat? As if. Gray and Natsu have been fighting each other for the last three days.

How about this guys? Fight at home! You know the place with all the food and comfort and beds!

Erza tries to stop them but she gets smacked in the face…poor unfortunate souls.

Like I said poor unfortunate souls.

So once they return to the guild, they find out that Natsu and Gray have a special request for them from Warrod Seeken, one of the 10 Wizard Saints, ranked 4th.

So the entire group goes with the two because let’s be real Natsu and Gray would fight all the way and they’d never get anything done.

So once they reach Warrod Seeken’s place, he jokes around with them before explaining the job. He wants them to unthaw the Sun Village which has been covered in a unique ice.

After that Warrod sends them on their way and while that happens Warrod has a flashback and it turns out that he’s one of the founding members of Fairy Tail.

This would have been a better reveal if Fairy Tail Zero wasn’t a thing.

So with that the episode ends. A good episode. We’re finally getting back into the good stuff. Ah the canon.

I can’t wait until we get down into the really good stuff.

Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 51: Absolute Nightmare: Feel Free to Scream

Okay I’ve got my hot tea with lemon, cough drops, and some hot water with salt.

Why? Because you will be screaming all through this episode.

We see Ichiya of Blue Pegasus spill his new perfume into the sewers of Magnolia.

And it does this to the population of Magnolia.

Aaaaah Aaah!!! Those bastards changed changed Princess Hisui! Evil! They must be stopped!

My mind hurts! But this isn’t the true pain!

My soul is hurting right now…Mirajane, Erza, Levy…

Knock Hiro Mashima for anything else but one thing he got right was the ladies of Fairy Tail are attractive. Don’t take away their beauty!

So while everyone’s getting infected by pure darkness Lucy, Natsu, and Happy manage to get away into the sewers. However Gajeel and Lily find them.

We’re the ones that are suffering. So Lucy and the group run away but apparently Gajeel and Lily can’t smell Lucy probably because of this.

Erza does bunny suit better. So Natsu and Happy hide inside Lucy’s bunny suit and that goes as expected.

Of course the suit rips and they run out of the sewers and meet up with Wendy and Carla who tell them that Natsu has the secret to save everyone from this evil.

Then Natsu remembers that Erza gave him an odor removing lacrima to which goes back to the guild to steal it back even while Laxus is trying to kill him. They all return to normal with Natsu’s help.

And with that the episode’s over.

Strangely I liked it. I laughed, I cried, I screamed. I screamed a lot.

But let’s get serious. Next up is the return to the canon material! The beginning of the Sun Village arc! The beginning of the Tartarus Sage!

But that’s for next week. And to celebrate I’m going to have the episode in 1080p! I’m so hyped!

Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 50: One More Episode…

Just one more episode to suffer through, then back to the good stuff. If you’re an anime only viewer, you’re in for some good stuff. If you read the manga, you know the epicness that I’m talking about…

So we start with Laxus and and the Raijin-Shuu are taking a job to the village of Borwatt. They’ve got a problem. What? What is that problem?

Ah I see why they wanted Laxus specifically. After all you send a Lightning Dragon Slayer to deal with lightning right.

Anyway Laxus uses Lightning Dragon’s Roar and disperses the thunderclouds. It works but it’s only going to be a temporary solution.

So with the lightning and the clouds gone for a moment, the townsfolk come out and thank them. All the girls get all hot and bothered by Laxus. That’s him. Making girls swoone in their sleep.

After that the mayor takes them up to the mayoral mansion and his entire self changes. He explains that it’s Laxus’s fault that the town is like this. Turns out that before the Grand Magic Games, Laxus passed through the town, got into a fight, and released a massive amount of electricity.

Poor fools didn’t even have a chance…

Anyway being the good guy that he is, Laxus goes to solve the problem that he created. However something seems up with that mayor and Evergreen thinks so too.

They go back into the village where the thunderclouds have come back and now there are some strange lightning creatures on the ground. They don’t stand much of a chance against Laxus or any of them really.

Laxus and Freed see that there’s a massive amount of electricity coming from undergroud. They check out the sewer system and find a ball of Laxus’s electricity under there. Laxus absorbs again and they find a lacrima that was storing it there.

Turns out that the mayor did all of this on purpose to try and extort money out of Fairy Tail. Nice try man. With all the damages they’ve got they can barely pay the rent some months.

Anyway Laxus goes over to the mayor’s mansion to kick his butt then his grandkid comes out and Laxus sees that he can protect something and leaves.

And the episode ends with the group heading home without any payment.

Just one more episode….please let this next one be quick!

Kinda disappointed. I wanted it to be Evergreen but Yukino’s good too. She’s easily the sexy member of Sabertooth. It’s kinda hard not to be since she’s the only female member…you’ll see what I mean in the Sun Village arc.

Let’s Look: Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 49: Let’s Go! Move along! Nothing to See here

Fairy Tail 2nd Series Episode 49: Let’s Go! Move along! Nothing to See here

The reason for this title is simple. I checked the wiki. Episode 227 or Episode 52 is called the ‘The Morning of a New Adventure’ which is the same as Chapter 341 of the Fairy Tail manga which starts off the Sun Village Arc, the introduction arc to the Tartarus Arc.

So come on and let’s get this over with! I got some Tartarus arc I want to see!

So when everyone heads out on the island, everything seems cool right?

Wrong! It can’t be Fairy Tail without something going wrong.

Our team tries to fight it but they get owned. The way you see them lose her makes you forget that these are the two most powerful guilds in all of Fiore…

Anyway during the battle, Natsu, Lucy, Happy, and Kemokemo get trapped underground in some type of ruins.

And while that’s happening a virus seems to spread all over the island and around to the boats where the Magic Council sitting on standby…more like sitting where it’s safe.

Lahar gives the order to sink the island…you guys and your hair trigger decisions…

Also I can’t help but notice when the sea serpent was attacking, Doranbolt only grabbed Wendy and Carla.

Doranbolt put the loli down! We all know what your tastes are…

Does that look like the face of a man that doesn’t like to feast on the innocence of young girls?

Anyway while everyone else is either dying from the virus or trying feast on the innocence of a loli(looking at you Doranbolt!), Lucy is translating the ruins.

While she’s doing that Kemokemo keeps getting bigger and bigger. Soon he bursts out of the ruins.

Someone was eating his Wheaties…

Anyway Kemokemo and Natsu fight the sea serpent while Lucy explains that Kemokemo is the guardian of the island. It turns out that he makes a gas from his body that neutralizes the virus so everyone turns out fine.

Kemokemo beats the sea serpent and with his job done, he returns back to the island. Not before giving Natsu a seed to remember him by.

The last scene of the episode is Natsu and Happy leaving for a job while the seed that Kemokemo left them starts to sprout.

Normally I’m not a Millianna fan but when you put her like this…you just got to love her.

So we only have two more episodes before the Tartarus saga begins. I’m excited personally and the date also has some significance. On the date that the Tartarus saga begins will be the 1 year anniversary of the Fairy Tail anime’s return. It’s fitting that it starts this way.
