Spring Anime 2014

Akuma no Riddle Speculation 2#

Hey everyone. What’s up? It’s Deven once again with a Speculation. It’s already a season passed? Wow it’s been some time. Time to revisit something from the Spring of 2014 anime! No it’s not Date A Live. Patience brothers and sisters all good things come to those that wait. I’m talking about Akuma no Riddle.

Now that the anime is over and I finally got some extra time on my hands(read: no internet so I have no choice but to work), I can finally get this Speculation done.

As you all know I did my first Akuma no Riddle Speculation while the anime was still airing so I didn’t really get to do all the characters and their flowers. I promised myself that after the anime I’d get to it but you know. Life gets in the way sometimes. But now I’ve got the time and more importantly the downloads so I’m adding all the ending songs for Speculation too!

Big thanks to Funimation for picking up Akuma no Riddle and subtitling all the endings! I’m going to one more Akuma no Riddle Speculation on who I think will get parts in this anime!

So let’s get going!

Snapshot_10

The beautiful Otoya(voiced by the even more beautiful Manami Numakura) will go first!

These are mountain lillies which mean joy of life which now that I have some hindsight works with Otoya’s personality. Someone that takes so much live would get their own jollies off killing.

At the beginning of Otoya’s song with that guitar rift(sorry if I got the term wrong. I don’t know music terms) it gives me a sight of a spider walking along a web. The theme of the song is basically you’re going to die so you might as well let Otoya have her fun with you. And Otoya’s fun hurts…a lot…all the time. Stay away until you want to die!

Snapshot_7

My cute little academic is second.

These are red spider lillies which have two meanings ‘looking forward to seeing you again’ and ‘sad memories’. We really get this a lot with Kouko because she really cared about her senpai Irina. Also to the fact that she was raised by a Christian orphanage so she must be a Christian so she would see Irina in heaven I guess. Sad memories also works since Kouko regrets her mistake with the car bomb that ended up killing Irina.

Kouko’s song quite simple in design. It’s her walking through in pace with the music. However the words are what get you. They describe Kouko’s life after she killed Irina, how she became so driven. Yet the song says that she wants to be saved from the life that she lives.

Snapshot_3

The better big sister is third and she’s really cool.

These are Verbena flowers which symbolize familial love. That fits perfectly with Haruki who loves her family so much that she became an assassin. You can guess that with the way she acts that if she wasn’t aiming to kill Haru then she’d be a pretty good person.

Now I look at the terms and searches that bring people to my blog and the most used one for Akuma no Riddle is Haruki Sagae!

Haruki’s song has a lot of yellows, blacks, and reds to it. However that’s not as important as the lyrics and the pictures. Haruki talks about how she wants to be free from the assassin life and is willing to give up her life to keep her promise to be there for her siblings. Now I said it in the original version of this post and I’ll say it again. This girl is the best big sister I’ve seen in an anime for a while. Now how many sisters are ready to kill for their siblings?

Snapshot_5

Every anime has one, the designated loli at fourth and her princely lover at fifth.

These are white and red roses which symbolize love for the red roses and purity for the white roses. You can see it in their relationship even without the yuri. Chitaru loved and respected her master so much that she joined the Black class to track down the girl that killed her daughter. Hitsugi has in her personality which is very innocent and kind minus the whole Angel’s Trumpet thing.

Even I can’t mess this up! It’s a tragedy song. It’s all about how Hitsugi and Chitaru are star-crossed lovers. Nothing else matter other than their pure Yuri love! I love it! It also talks about how if the world would reject them and their angels turn into demons they’d plummet into Hell. Sounds great!

Snapshot_11

She didn’t get much but here she is as number six.

These are thistles which symbolic of revenge. Now in the anime we can’t see this but in the manga we can see this through Shiena’s conversation with Otoya about how she hates bullying. So she could have been bullied while she was little so she could have become an assassin to kill the people that bullied her.

Note: Shiena did not get an ending song or a song on any of the character CDs which is odd since she was on the cover of the second one.

Snapshot_13

The Immortal Highlander comes in at number seven!

These are Red Tulips which symbolize declarations of love. It works well with Suzu because her life is all about love, losing it ,gaining, and losing it again. Seeing as she lost her first boyfriend because of her Highlander Syndrome and she has a massive shiptease with Kouko. I approve! Two of my favorite girls on this show with beautiful Yuri action? I’d faint from happiness! She also shows moving on pass lost loves. At the end of the anime you see Suzu moving on pass her lost love and vowing to make the best of her immortal life.

Now I look at the most popular posts on my blog too, And How Old Are You, Shuto-san? is one of the most popular post dealing with Akuma no Riddle. Thanks!

Now this song just puts all of Suzu’s feelings in one song and just goes all out with it. The image while she’s singing is of Suzu in her old Meiji Restoration kimono holding hands with her old boyfriend and as the song ends she shifts to the clothes she wears now. The song talks about how much she hurts about losing her lover because of her disease and she hasn’t forgotten him no matter how many years pass.

Snapshot_8

The girl with two minds is coming in at eight!

These are Moonflowers and Japanese Bindweeds which symbolize bewitching and ties respectively. You can see the bewitching part very clearly with Mahiru. No one seems her a threat. They’re all afraid of Shinya who they think is the real killer. However Mahiru’s the one that wants to do all the killing. Shinya just does the deed. The only person that figured this out was Otoya ironically saying they have more in common during the day that what appears. As for ties, she wears a tie in her uniform…hahaha . I had to do that. Anyway ties represent how Mahiru and Shinya are tied together spiritually and emotional as well as physical all because they are two halves of the same person. One is dependent on the other.

Now this song is a contraster type. Mahiru’s voice is very soft and feminine. However the beat track is a strong drum beat with rock guitars. I kinda would call it techno. Of course it works with her voice but the idea is the constrast. For her voice you’d expect a ballad like music but we’ve got techno. As for the lyrics, she talks about lack of hope and trying to escape only to break down in tears at the hopelessness. Then it has the sound of glass breaking and the style of the lyrics to a lot more dark stuff. So it’s safe to say it’s Shinya’s lyrics.

Snapshot_2

The sex symbol for this anime comes in at number 9.

(Side Note: Some of you might not think that Isuke’s the sex symbol for this anime. Let me remind you of some facts. She wears a mini-skirt, thigh high boots, shows her middrift, wears a leather top, has some of the biggest boobs in this anime, and she’s the only one that jumps into a bikini when they go to the pool. Yep she’s sexy!)

These are Red Carnations which symbolize believing in love. However what’s unique about Isuke’s flower is that it’s a bud and not a fully grown flower. You can make the logical guess that Isuke’s still young about love. But you clearly see that the main reason that she came to Myojo Academy is to win money so her parents would have a nice life after they retired. However I guess it’s a young love because she thinks that money can buy happiness. It can but it only last so long.

Side note: Don’t tell me that new PS3 or PS4 you got didn’t make you happy! You know you’re lying if you said it doesn’t.

So she’s trying to make her parents happy by giving them things when she could just be spending time with them. Esuke outright said that they missed her while she was at Myojo Academy. So instead of doing the quick assassin jobs and being able to spend more time with her family, she did a long job with the possibility of getting paid more and stayed away far longer and nearly got killed by Tokaku.

This song does Isuke well. It’s perky and her Seiyuu has such a sexy voice. It’s talks about how basically how badass she is. But it also talks about how even Isuke has people she cares about. The ending really conveys Isuke’s personality.

Snapshot_16

The princess comes in at number 10.

These are Iceland Poppies which symbolize comfort and relaxation. Now for Hanabusa this is pretty easy to see. She’s rich so she can afford to take it easy and not have to stress herself. Also the fact that she can bring in her own furniture so she doesn’t have to be uncomfortable. She even rented an entire floor of Myojo Academy and altered it to suit her tastes. She’s used to living in comfort.

Hanabusa’s song has to be the best song this anime made! It’s freaking badass. The music is awesome rock but Hanabusa’s voice is just so calm and chill. This ending basically says what I’ve been saying since Hanabusa went after Haru. Sumireko Hanabusa is the princess of badass and we should all start bowing down. The song does talks about how futility of situations and how cruel life is. However Hanabusa ain’t going to give up. She’s going to fight and pull out her trump card at the last minute.
That’s it for the flowers since Haru, Tokaku, and Nio do not have any. I’m not going to do Haru or Tokaku’s endings since this was supposed to be a flower and song update thing.

Snapshot_1

The final ending goes to the the Queen of Misdirection and the Unexpected at number 11.

Nio’s Seiyuu is Yoshino Nanjo, also the Seiyuu of Eli Ayase and she’s the lead singer of FripSide and a member of Lantis’s Seiyuu made Muse. So it’s not any shock that she can sing like a goddess!

Nio’s song…just Nio’s song. Note that’s shivers of fear. The song makes excellent use of dark pauses and then Nio’s face comes up smiling with that toothy grin she’s got. A bit frightening.

Now this song has some stuff that you can speculate about. One scene is Nio on a stage being controlled by puppet strings. You can clearly see that means Yuri’s controlling her. My guess is with her Queen Bee ability. Some of the lyrics talk about how Nio wishes she could fly away from where she is. She talks about how no one ever was kind enough to tell her the truth. So that makes me guess that even at the end of the anime Nio still doesn’t know that she’s under Yuri’s Queen Bee ability.

The final part of the ending is the clencher. You see Nio at the top of some type of platform and then a scene or two later you see Nio’s shoes on the ground. Now that doesn’t mean anything in the western world but in Japan people take off their shoes before they commit suicide, particularly jumping in front of trains or buses.

Wow. She killed herself. You can clearly see that Yuri uses Nio and in some part of herself Nio wants her independence. So she takes back the only way she can.

Also I’m guessing Yuri has sex with Nio. Mostly because a lot of the promo shots that have Yuri in them have Nio in them as well. So we all know how this turns out in the manga(Not the anime, they were too scared to give the real yuri), all girl school, servant that will do whatever you say, freaking Yuri manga! It’s obvious.

So on that happy note, I’ll end my Akuma no Riddle Speculation now.

I need some brain bleach after that one. And I’ve got the good stuff! Love Live…wow I’ve done a lot of Love Live Posts lately. Maybe I should do something else? Nah you guys love Love Live. Next Love Live post will be about the OVAs that came with Love Live Endless Parade Concert.

So until then,

Glasslip Dropped!

Yeah I’m dropping Glasslip. I thought that PA Works was on to something with this but then they ended up screwing up a good thing. How? They did nothing with it! They had a cast of teenagers on their last year of high school in their final summer and what do they do with it? They don’t use any of the possible drama they could be doing!

They also jumped into the dating parts too early. It’s the second or the third episode and Yukinari’s already confessing to Touko. It’s so dumb. I’m not going to care if this dude is confessing to this girl if you haven’t built up anything to make me care about either of them.

Also the main guy, Kakeru Okikura, is a bastard with a massive addition of jackass anti-social. It’s like the guy doesn’t know how to talk to people. He’s just too cold and off putting for everything.

So that’s just a few of the reasons why I don’t like Glasslip and that’s why I’m dropping with no chance of it ever having a Full Review. PA Works did what a lot of people feared. Awesome art but horrible plot. If I wanted a snorefest episodic, I’d watch an American cartoon.

Granted the character designs and the environment are really good though. Yanagi is definitely the hottest girl on the anime but it isn’t going to save it. Despite that I’ll leave you with some pictures.

Here you go!

tumblr_n68wwlFGEd1tt76qio1_500

And with that Glasslip is officially dropped. Now since my side list isn’t up yet, this season I’ll only be reviewing Rail Wars and Fairy Tail 2nd Series. However in the fall season, the Side List will be up and I’ll have anime on there for it.

Date A Live Speculation #2

Spirits. Different life forms that exist in a critical space and cause peculiar disasters.

Strategy 1: Annihilate them by military force.
Strategy 2: Date them and make them fall in love.

Hey everyone. It’s Deven coming to you with another Date A Live Speculation. Now since the end of Date A Live 2, it’s not much news for Date A Live other than the movie coming out and the OVA thats coming out this winter. So I’ll try to keep you guys entertained with some speculation posts.

The first one we’ve got is the big one. You know me I always want to start off strong.

Will the anime get a third season?

First off on the list is the sales of the first season, only subbed since the Funimation dub hasn’t been out very long. I’ll also throw in the two video games, Date A Live: Rinne Utopia and Date A Live: Arisu Install. During the week of June 24, 2013 to June 30, 2013, Date A Live came out on Blu-ray. Now according to Anime News Network, it premiered at 8th with 7,171 copies sold. Pretty good for a first time out.

Now let’s check the video game, Date A Live:Rinne Utopia.

480px-DAL_GAME_U-Cover Rinne Utopia

During its first week(June 24, 2013-June 30, 2013) it sold 23,340 copies. Now what’s unique about this according to TvTropes.com’s page about Date A Live there was a large influx of orders from other countries such as America. Why? Because the game is basically a dating sim where you can date all the Spirits that had been introduced at the end of the first season including Origami but most of them came for Kurumi. So add Kurumi’s popularity plus an ending with you get to marry her that got the Americans as well as a lot other countries that had no idea how to speak Japanese on the bandwagon.

Now the new video game, Date A Live:Ars Install.

384px-Date_A_Live_Ars_Install

During the week of June 30, 2014 to July 6, it sold 4,383 copies. It’s low right. Completely true but the game came out the week before those stats came out. The week that it came out it sold 9703 sales! And it’s still climbing. It’s a rinse and repeat as the same as Rinne Utopia. You can date and fall in love with all the Spirits that had been introduced at the time in the anime including Miku, Kaguya Yamai, and Yuzuru Yamai. So it’s guaranteed to be a good time just by having Kurumi.

So with good stats like that at the beginning it’s safe to say that people loved the first season. We’re still waiting the sales from Funimation’s dub but I’m hoping for a good haul.

Next up is Light Novel sales. Now this info is really fresh. Like only a few months old. The stats for the top selling Light Novels was released a two months ago and Date A Live is on there twice. Once at 18th for the most recent volume 10, Angel Tobiichi. It’s there again at 22nd for volume 9, Natsumi Change. Now it’s not top ten but out of the thirty most popular Light Novels in Japan, Date A Live got on the list twice which is awesome.

So it’s pretty much locked up on the Light Novel side. We got to wonder though. Is it’s rank going to go up even higher after the release of the volume 11?

Next up is how much of the Light Novel has been adapted. Now unlike long runners like Naruto and One Piece, Naruto more than One Piece, seasonal anime don’t have much room for filler. Also filler is well hated in anime community. We know why the studios do it but doesn’t mean we have to like it. Now we look at how far the anime is from the Light Novel.

Now the first season of the anime adapted the first four Light Novels.

Dead End Tohka, Puppet Yoshino, Killer Kurumi, and Sister Itsuka

Then the second season that just ended adapted the next three.

Tempest Yamai, Lily Miku, and Truth Miku

The only ones that haven’t been adapted yet are Search Natsumi, Change Natsumi, and Angel Tobiichi.

Now the big question is why? Why didn’t the anime go further? Well the answer is pretty simple.

The last one, Angel Tobiichi came out the month before the Spring Anime season started. There’s no way that they’d be able to add in all the stuff that happened in the Natsumi arc and add to the fact that the Spirit Origami arc isn’t finished yet. Which is the reason why this season only had ten episodes as opposed to twelve or thirteen.

But I’m getting off track. The anime does still have a fair bit of stuff to still adapt. Personally I can’t wait to see the volume 10 adapted.

Another big part is characters. Come on guys you know there’s some anime you only look at because some of the characters are your favorites. Date A Live is no exception. And according to this:

Sorry for the quality. It's the only picture I could find.
Sorry for the quality. It’s the only picture I could find.

A lot of you guys come for some Tohka!

35421699_m

As well as a whole lot of Kurumi!

38063848_m

With characters this awesome and well loved(Seeing as you guys buy games you can’t understand without a translator), Date A Live’s got some good characters.

Next up is how much do you want it or basically how big is the hype? So this is all up to you all. Date A Live could have the best video game sells, anime sells, and be the best Light Novel in the world but it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t support it. That means buying the merchandise! Get your Date A Live DVDs, Blu-rays, your t-shirts, plushies, and video games out the wazoo. Why? Because companies measure how good an anime is by how good the sells are, not by how much you talk about it. Because talk is cheap but buying something shows that you love it.

So at the end of it all the third season of Date A Live depends on you. We’re counting on you.

Until the third season and the next speculation,

Let’s Look:Fairy Tail Episode 12:Iron Shadow Dragon!

Fairies never lose! Let’s go!

So we start off the episode with this!

Snapshot_1

Oh Rogue you done stepped in it now.

So after the opening we go to the Rescue Lucy team in the palace. Future Lucy explains that a swarm of 10,000 dragons will attack destroy the entire capital.

We go to Princess Hisui who confirms this and says that she will open the gate if the person that told her of the future is correct.

Side note: I just realized that Princess Hisui is voiced by Suzuko Mimori of Love Live fame. Yay, Umi-chan!

Sonoda.Umi.full.1437738 tumblr_n4a740Ufvd1stg31so1_500

(cough) Ignore that idol fanboy moment and let’s get back to the show.

We go back to the Rescue team who shows looks of fear and confusion. Well except one person…

Snapshot_2 Snapshot_3

The others spitball ideas about where the dragons are coming from or what is their purpose while Natsu does…well just look.

Snapshot_4

Like that’s going to stop a dragon.

Future Lucy asks why do they believe her. Mostly because the story does sound a bit far-fetched.

Snapshot_5

After Future Lucy gets a quick scolding by Present Lucy, Carla finally connects the dots about the vision she’s had for like 20 episodes ago.

Snapshot_6

Yeah in the first episode we saw Natsu fighting against all the dragons so what did happen at the end?

Snapshot_7

They died…

After Future Lucy’s flashback she explains that she used the Eclipse gate to go back in time to July 4 X791.

But Arcardios seems to see something wrong with this.

Future Lucy advises Natsu’s group to go and meet up with Jellal’s group to figure out what to do next since she didn’t have a plan coming back to the past.

Arcadios also has a flashback showing how Princess Hisui got the idea for the Eclispe 2 Project. He concludes that if Future Lucy told Hisui about the Eclipse 2 then it was impossible for her to arrive on the 4th.

Future Lucy starts to worry about the future and how she was unable to do anything but all Natsu needs to do is this.

Snapshot_14

After that we go to Jellal, Ultear(she’s so hot and she’s got Miyuki Sawashiro as her voice in Japanese and Lydia Mackay in English!), and Meredy sitting outside out the city trying to figure out what’s true about what Future Lucy said.

We move back to Gajeel vs. Rogue.

Snapshot_15

Someone’s been busy laying down the smashdown on Rogue.

Rogue explains that he always looked up to Gajeel while he was in Phantom Lord but once he went to Fairy Tail he couldn’t believe it at the time. However over time he realized that it was because of friends and that Sabertooth doesn’t have bonds like that.

Snapshot_16

He says that Frosh is Rogue’s friend and Rogue agrees. Rogue is about to give up but something speaks to him in the darkness.

Snapshot_17

And his shadow tells him to kill Gajeel. Wow this looks like a badass battle after the commerial.

But we go to Natsu’s group back in the palace and other than Arcadios and Yukino leaving, the rest is all filler to make sure that the episode gets to 22 minutes. So I’ll make sure to skip that part and focus on the good stuff.

Back to Gajeel vs. Rogue.

Snapshot_18

Looks like someone’s about to get power up.

Snapshot_19

There is it!

So they start up the fight and it’s just better to show with pictures.

Wow, this is a good one. This is why the anime needed to come back!

During the fight Mavis comments that something must be possessing Rogue and it’s deeply evil.

Snapshot_26

After that we go back to Jellal and the others where they sense a spike in magical energy they realize that Future Lucy has just gotten into a battle but in the fighting she isn’t fighting at all. What’s up?

I could comment on the filler parts but I respect you all too much.

After that we have Gajeel completely owned by Possessed Rogue.

Snapshot_27

Looks like he’s about to kill him. Come on that’s too far for a game but it looks like things aren’t in the game territory any more.

Snapshot_28 Snapshot_29

Oh crap things are getting serious now! When Natsu ate Laxus’s Lightning, he became the Lightning Flame Dragon Slayer. Now what will Gajeel be when he mixes shadows with iron?

Snapshot_30 Snapshot_32

Oh crap. It’s about to go down it’s…it’s…

Snapshot_35

It’s the Iron Shadow Dragon!

And with that we end the episode. Can you even wait to see the battle of the Possessed Rogue vs. Iron Shadow Dragon Gajeel! Until next week,
Later Days!

You can ask me as many questions as you want on Ask.fm and you can follow me on Twitter to know when my new reviews are coming out. You’ll also be update on what’s happening.

Let’s Look: Akuma no Riddle Episode 12 Finale:Two Roads and One is Way Better.

Tokaku vs. Haru. It’s time to begin the final episode!

After a quick flashback of Tokaku’s birth we go back to Tokaku and Haru down in the graveyard.

Haru asks why is she doing this and Tokaku says that before now she wasn’t able to kill but now but now she can kill.

Tokaku says that she’ll chose her own path.

Snapshot_2

First blood!!!!!

Tokaku throws away her sheathe as she advances on Haru.

After the opening,we have Kaiba talking to himself about Tokaku telling her to make her own decisions. She can wield her sword as she sees fit.

After that we go back to Tokaku vs. Haru. Haru throws one of the lanterns at her but Tokaku dodges her and tries to slash her but Haru totally does the Matrix and dodges the sword.

Of course though she lands her butt and she’s wide open. Well Haru you had a good run. You beat 11 assassins but the 12th was too good.

Snapshot_5

Haru like all people that are about to get killed ask one question.

Tokaku says that this was the only way that she could prove it to herself if she was being manipulated.

Snapshot_9 Snapshot_10

Tokaku jumps back into the fog while someone picks up Haru.

Snapshot_11 Snapshot_13

One Tokaku takes Haru into the fog and explains that the Tokaku that tried to kill her was Nio. Turns out that Nio is a member of the Kuzunoha family. Unlike the Azumas who excel at assassination abilities, the Kuzunoha family excels at shamanism, using hypnotism to trick them into lowering their guard or tricking them into killing themselves.

Snapshot_14 Snapshot_15

Tokaku says that Nio never said that she wasn’t an assassin and that she was just biding her time until the Black Class ends and then she’ll strike. That explains why Nio had the ending last episode.

Good summation Tokaku.

So after that Haru and Tokaku run pass one of the graves and Haru stops to look at. She says that it might be possible that she manipulated her into protecting her but Tokaku says that it’s possible that she was manipulated. However she says that she’s gained something important here with Haru.

Aw…that’s so cute.

Too bad Tokaku-Nio tries to stab Haru from the shadows but Tokaku pulls her away and starts shooting at Tokaku-Nio. Once she runs out of bullets she goes in close with the knife.

Turns out that Nio is trying to figure out if Haru really has the Primer. I don’t know if the chairwoman ordered her to do it but come on! She survived 11 assasins. If that doesn’t prove it then I don’t know what will.

So they keep at it and it’s basically an argument…with some knives. Not the best one. It does have a good impression. You can guess that with Nio taking on Tokaku’s appearance she can be Tokaku’s more confused side, not sure that Haru is manipulating her. And the other one is yeah I don’t know. This scene is hard to follow.

Yeah so after Nio-Tokaku is defeated, she tries to kill Haru but the other Tokaku throws a knife at her hamstring then stabs her in the chest.

So then Haru picks a knife and tries to stab Tokaku but as we see after the commericial it doesn’t work.

Snapshot_23

I’ve never been so sad.

Turns out the only way to prove if Tokaku was under the Primer was to kill her. If she was under the Primer then she couldn’t do anything as Haru went at her with the knife. This proves that everything that Tokaku did was of her own free will.

Snapshot_24

But was it worth it? Haru is dead!

Nio taunt Tokaku saying that all she can do is kill and she also says that’s been planning to kill Haru by taking on Tokaku’s form for a while. After that she dies.

Snapshot_26

Nio! You were my second favorite after Kouko(You got to love those smart girls with the glasses)

After Nio dies, Tokaku cries over Haru’s corpse as Yuri arrives to see the scene. After that Yuri says because of Haru’s death, Tokaku is the
winner of the Black Class and she can have anything she wants.

Snapshot_27

The only thing she wants is Haru back.

After that we timeskip to the spring and Haru’s graduating from the Black Class.

Snapshot_28

Turns out that Haru has a titanium rib that barely blocked Tokaku’s knife away from her heart, sparing her life. Come on guys. You give us that tearful ending that you take it away not less that a minute later.

Also turns out that Nio’s still alive and talking with the chairwoman. How? She’s not that easy to kill apparently.

Snapshot_29

You got stabbed in the heart, woman! Unless you’re an immortal that typically does in everyone.

After that Nio leaves the room and tosses a white lily out of the window. It’s supposed to be Haru’s flower symbol, symbolizing purity.

Then we go to Haru singing the school song and we go to somewhere outside a mansion.

It’s Sumireko Hana-freaking-busa!

She’s alive!

Snapshot_30

And she wants to cook…

Now at this point is when Akuma no Riddle loses all its credibility. And thus a new meme has been born!

Now here I was going to have a pic of a meme but I can’t find said meme so the joke is dead…

Edit: Found the Picture!

c8PAmeU

Now let’s keep going.

Snapshot_32

Now that something I can accept.

Snapshot_33

Now that’s sweet.

She gets two pics because she's my favorite girl
She gets two pics because she’s my favorite girl

Snapshot_36

That’s my hot nerd! Being badass! She doesn’t need to be let out of her group. She’s fighting her way out! Too bad it’s a sin to kill a nun.

Snapshot_37

Why isn’t she in containment? She’ll just escape again! Also why are you looking to be let out!? You’re a serial killer.

Snapshot_38

Looks like someone’s having some fun in the sun. She may not own the beach but at least she’s happy with her family.

Snapshot_39

They’re supposed to be dead! Kirigaya got stabbed in the chest and Namatame got poisoned by Angel’s Trumpet. Now if you don’t know that’s one of the most powerful poisons in the world and she shrugged it off.

Snapshot_40

So Shiena was supposed to be a part of this group that killed bullies of kids and other people. That’s why her flower is a thistle for revenge. However the anime cut that out.

Snapshot_41

Looks like Mahiru is deciding to move on with Shinya. That’s good.

So we go back to Haru who walks out of the school to meet Tokaku.

Snapshot_42

So now they’re going on a journey to deliever all the diplomas to all the girls.

Snapshot_43 Snapshot_44

That’s the most Yuri other than the kiss that they had in this anime.

And with that Akuma no Riddle is over. Well there’s the ending which is done by all thirteen girls. It’s pretty good.

Now time for final thoughts.

Akuma no Riddle has some serious issues with the words pacing and characterization! They move too fast to try to fit a bigger plot into 12 episodes and it’s safe to say they failed. A lot of the characters are unknown and half developed.

However the art and the character designs are good along with the action scenes and the songs. So I’ll give Akuma no Riddle a 6 out of 10.

So if you’re feeling mad about how the anime ended, READ THE MANGA. It’s way better and it actually has everything the anime cut out because they were strapped for time.

So with Akuma no Riddle finished that ends my Spring 2014 season. I hope you liked it and keep reading for the Summer 2014 season.

Until then,

Let’s Look:Akuma no Riddle Episode 11:Gifts and Curses

One more episode before the finale. Let see what they’re going to go for now!

So we start off the episode with Nio, Haru, and Tokaku sitting through a lecture from Mizorogi-sensei. Boring right.

Boring but ironic. The only good part of the lecture is that sometimes and by sometimes means all the time a worker bee will die to protect the queen. Hmmm…seeing a parellel here?

After school, Nio comments that she actually feels sorry for Mizorogi since he got the Black Class but hey at least next year he can get a better class.

Now that over we get this.

Then before the opening we get this from Nio.

Snapshot_8
So cute you forget that she’s evil!!

She looks and acts like a cute little girl but she’s a demon. Count on it.

After the opening, we have Tokaku and Haru eating lunch where Haru brings up what happened with Sumireko with the Queen Bee stuff. Nio comes in at the last minute, telling them that they should wait until tonight.

Tokaku leaves, telling Haru she can take her time eating since no one should be coming to attack her.

After leaving, Tokaku goes to the roof and texts someone, Kaiba I guess.

After that she flashes back to the talk with Hanabusa while looking at her charm from Haru. She says that Hanabusa was just trying to psych her out.

We go back to Nio and Haru. Nio comments that Haru should know the chairwoman because they’re a part of the same clan. Aw man. I thought she was Nio’s mom.

Nio comments that Haru must feel pretty good since she finally doesn’t have a target on her back but she apologizes after saying that’s a bit too far.

Snapshot_9

Can’t deny that. Haru has always has been different from the assassins but then again you can see that right when you look at them.

After this, we go to Haru and Tokaku going up to the True Orientation. After Nio greets them, she introduces the chairwoman, Meichi Yuri. I know Yuri is an actual Japanese name but it isn’t kinda ironic in a yuri anime one character has the name Yuri.

Snapshot_11

She offers some words of congratulations before Tokaku tells her to cut the crap and get down to business. Someone’s not wasting any time. I like that!

After explaining what an intitation, Yuri explains that the Black Class wasn’t made to kill Haru. Rather to see if Haru could survive against 12 assassins. It’s safe to say the plan worked.

The plan was figure out if Haru was worthy of being the leader of their clan.

Okay, okay, okay. You rule the world. You don’t have to be so smug about though.

And the leader of all this is one woman, the Primer and Queen Bee. It’s a special power that allows for the user to charm people and work them to her advantage whether they know it or not. The greater the danger, the more strongly her power is exerted.

That’s also why all the girls in their clan are targeted from birth by assassins. So let me get this straight. You send assassins to attack your children just out of the hope that this one might be the Primer. How many little girls had to die before you found your Primer?!

So now that Haru’s survived the Black Class she’s proven to be the next Primer.

Snapshot_22

Now that I look back on it. She was awful calm back then. That should have been the first clue that the Black Class wasn’t everything that it appeared to be. Why didn’t I see it sooner?

Snapshot_23

Haru says that she doesn’t have this power. She was told if she managed to survive all of this stuff she’d get to have a normal life. Some one has some good control. I would have caved to the power of being the leader of a vast underground family that controls everything.

Yuri counters with asking how could she survive against 12 assassins as well as all the assassins that came before them?

Well when you lay it out like that it has to be true.

Haru breaks down and runs out of the room. While Yuri comments that she needs some time to accept what she is. Then she turns to Tokaku tells her that because she led Haru to victory she can have anything she wants.

After the commercial we’re in Haru and Tokaku’s room and they’re talking about the Primer. Haru never imagined that she could be it.

Snapshot_26 Snapshot_27

Yeah…I doubt that. Why? Takechi had her cold…I could descibe all the times that Haru was dead but was saved by Tokaku. One particularly sticks out. You remember with Kouko she grabbed one of the charms and it was pretty obvious that she was after her and she uses bombs!

Can’t deny that. The whole reason Haru didn’t die the first freaking day is because of Tokaku.

Tokaku says basically she can’t prove that she didn’t do it and she leaves.

Next we catch up with Tokaku who’s having a video chat with Kaiba. She asks him if he knew the truth of the Black Class when he sent her and Kaiba responds with would it have made a difference?

Snapshot_31

So what was the point of sending them. He later says that if there were any answers they’d be inside Tokaku herself. I get it now. It’s a message for the larger picture. You can follow what you’re told but in the end the decision is yours.

After that we go to Haru knocking on Nio’s door.

Snapshot_32
She may be crazy but she does have Yoshino Nanjo’s voice and that’s so cute

She asks to be taken to see Yuri personally.

After that we go back to Tokaku in the room, taking a shower. She remembers all the things that happened to get this point. She mulls over what could be the truth? Did she want to protect Haru because of herself? Or was it the Primer making her do it?

Snapshot_33

It’s time to make a choice.

After this we go to Haru telling Yuri that she won’t be the Primer. Yuri says that not being the Primer would be a bad way to pay back the people that died for her.

Yuri tells Nio to take down to a certain place which turns out to be a cemetery of all the people that died in service of the clan and the Primers.

After telling Haru this, Nio leaves Haru amongst the names of the dead to think about her decision. She looks around and finds some names of people that are really important to her.

Snapshot_34 Snapshot_35

She questions one of the greatest things that a child whose parents sacrificed themselves can ask. Why did you die for me? Did you do it because you loved me or did the Primer make you?

Snapshot_36 Snapshot_37 Snapshot_38

It’s a big question…I like to think that Haru’s mother and family loved her enough to die for her. As should any person for anyone they truly love.

Haru hears footsteps and turns around to see Tokaku.

Snapshot_39

She says that she’s thought about everything that’s happened and understand that Haru has changed her in ways that she never imagined until now.

Snapshot_42

But why!

Snapshot_43

And the episode ends with that. It’s a pretty good song at the end sung by Yoshino Nanjo/ Nio Hashiri.

So here we are. The next episode will be the season finale. Will Haru be able to get away from Tokaku with her sword?

We’ll have to find out next episode.
Until then,

Let’s Look: Date A Live 2 Season Finale: How To Save Two Fallen Angels

Here we are at the finale. Now it’s time to save two Fallen Angels.

Now the stuff before the opening is just Shido getting stabbed by Ellen.

After the opening we get this.

Snapshot_1

The whole room’s covered in this purple darkness and when it disappears we see this.

Now for a bit of backstory…it’s quick! I promise. Now the Spirit’s Inverse form, triggered when a Spirit reaches an emotional negative. It’s only happened twice in the series, once is here with Tohka when Shido got stabbed by Ellen. The other is in volume 10 when Origami despaired after she realized she was the Spirit that killed her parents. Now for the biggest fact, this is the Spirit’s true form in the dimension they come from. Now imagine an Inverse Kurumi…poor reality.

Back to the story.

Inverse Tohka ask Miku where she is and why she’s here. To which Miku explains that it’s DEM’s Japanese Branch and she was kidnapped by Ellen.

Wescott comments that everything they’ve been working for has come true and he orders her to fight Inverse Tohka.

Now this is set up to be an awesome fight…but we switch to Mana vs. Jessica Bailey.

Looks like Jessica’s got Mana on the ropes but…

Snapshot_9

Looks like she’s coming up on her time limit.

As Jessica gets weaker and weaker, her shot gets wilder and wilder until she’s not even hitting anymore.

Jessica questions why Wescott and Ellen put her a young Asian girl to such an important post in DEM. She wanted to be Adeptus-2. Looks like someone’s jealous.

Snapshot_11

Mana comments that Jessica’s always been jealous and ambitious but she’s loyal which she respects. You can’t deny that loyalty’s important but when you’re loyal to a bastard like Wescott.

It’s over now. Jessica asks if Wescott will acknowedge her now? Mana…what will you say? Tell her the truth? That Wescott doesn’t give a damn about her? Or let a dying woman have some peace before she dies?

Snapshot_16

Wescott’s a bastard. No other words need be used to describe him. He used Mana and cut her lifespan down to ten more years and she’s only fourteen! She’ll die before she even gets a chance to live. Jessica got so much power stuffed in her that she only had one day to live.

Let’s go to the next scene.

Snapshot_21

Now this is the type of power that Tohka had before she was sealed. She isn’t even trying!

Then Ellen blows the roof trying to get rid of Tohka but it doesn’t work. Now guess whose turn it is?

Someone shouldn’t be calling themselves the strongest Wizard. More like the most pwned Wizard…if that’s the case then everyone in DEM is the most pwned Wizard. They always lose.

Moving on.

Miku protects both herself and Shido with her voice. While across the room, Ellen saves Wescott. Wescott asks if she can keep fighting and Ellen says that she can’t fight Tohka now because she’s not at her best because she got cut by Origami.

Now that’s just a scratch. All I hear is coward.

Snapshot_31

So you fuck up the world by causing a Sephira Inversion and then you just run away?! Get back here and fix it!

After Wescott and Sneaky Ellen make their escape, Inverse Tohka attacks Miku and Shido but looks like normal Tohka’s still got their backs.

Snapshot_32

Inverse Tohka asks why does he possess an angel. While she’s answering, Kotori gets a message through and tells Shido to remind her who he is and do the same stuff as usual. Sweet talk the Spirits and make them fall for him.

Snapshot_33

See Funanimation, your tagline got him blasted off his feet.

Now looks like Miku’s about to go at it.

Looks like it’s going to work…

Snapshot_38

Well she’s screwed and she wore out her voice.

Snapshot_39

Then we get a flashback from Miku, saying that she only felt useful and happy with her voice. Now that she doesn’t have her voice, she’ll be thrown away again. But despite that she wanted to see one person truly love another person from the bottom of their heart.

And then we go to commercial with Shido calling out for Miku.

After the break, we see all the Spirits awakening from Miku’s mind control and Origami trying to rush in and save Shido before passing out. That’s cool but not as important.

Now remember the title? How to save a fallen angel? This is how to save the first one.

Snapshot_40
You save a fallen angel by keeping your promise.

Now this scene is definitely the big scene of the light novel 8 and it’s been floating around for a bit. Take a look at the original.

date-a-live-shido-itsuka-miku-izayoi-1920x1080

It’s soo cute.

Now this is badass on Shido’s part. He’s using three Angels at the same time. He’s using Tohka’s Sandelphon, Yoshino’s Zadkiel, and Kotori’s healing all at the same time. Awesome!

Anyway Shido says the reason he saved Miku because he promised.

Now we go over to Inverse Tohka who’s straining herself saying Shido’s name. She raises her sword and does this!

Snapshot_46

There are 10 levels of being screwed. This is level 11.

Shido asks Miku to run but she hugs him and begs him not to break his promise. Inverse Tohka’s about to attack but…

Snapshot_48 Snapshot_49

Looks like Death’s late to the party. Don’t worry he’ll be there soon.

Now this is the power of Sephira Inversion. Even at full power without a spatial quake no one Spirit has caused this much destruction in one shot.

Looks like Shido’s gone but wait!

Snapshot_55

Thanks to the Yamai girls for saving the day but the battle’s not over yet.

Shido drops down to Tohka and you know what he does…

Snapshot_57

Inverse Tohka has a flashback about all the good times she’s had with Shido and it really proves how much Shido changed Tohka.

After that the sun rises and we see Kurumi commenting that her target wasn’t in the DEM Building before she disappears into the shadows.

So after that we’ve got Shido at the Tengu Square with Miku and she calls him Darling. I’m guessing someone’s changed their tune.

Snapshot_62

And with that Shido’s sealed up six Spirits. Our man might be getting good at this.

After that Miku comments that the reason why she asked for him to come is because he promised to always listen to her songs even when no one else would. She says like he’s the only good guy and he’s the only one that she can trust. Now that’s sweet but remember she’s naked while she’s saying this. Anyone can just come by and get the wrong idea.

Snapshot_64

So we go to the ending credits where Miku’s singing the ending song. It’s an awesome ballad and I really can’t wait until it comes out.

Of course we can’t end Date A Live without a little misunderstanding. At the end of her song, Miku says that she loves Shido and calls him Darling again.

Aw man. Don’t you know he’s got a harem of girls that would get angry?

And with that we end Season 2.

But there’s a bit more!

Snapshot_68

A Date A Live Movie! Now that’s some good stuff! I’ll definitely keep you guys updated on it both on here and on Twitter. So now for final thoughts.

Date A Live 2 had itself a slow start with a filler episode right off the bat. Not a good start and the Yamai twins arc was at least at the beginning very fanservice heavy. However true to the standard Date A Live set itself up for it came through at the end. I feel the same for the Miku arc as well. Not much happening at the beginning but a great ending. Personally I believe that we had a half decent season here, not all good but not all bad. At the end I give Date A Live 2 a 7/10.

Make sure to keep looking here for some Date A Live Speculation posts all month long. I need to keep some Date A Live in your heads until the movie and the OVA come out.

So make sure to keep coming around. Until the next post,

Side Note: Sorry for not having my reviews out this week. A lot of stuff has been happening with my computer. I’ll make sure to finish all the past reviews today and post the new Akuma no Riddle and Fairy Tail reviews sometime this weekend.

Let’s Look: Akuma no Riddle Episode 10:The Queen Bee vs. the Princess

When will the action stop?! When damn you? Not that I’m complaining.

Let’s see who wants to kill Haru this week.

Okay we open up with Nio looking out the window, saying that Mizorogi-sensei must be depressed because he put them on self-study and left. You kinda expect it. The Black Class, which he has no idea is full to the brim with assassins, is down to four members. Poor guy must think its all his fault…

While Nio’s commenting on this Tokaku thinks that there’s only one more assassin left.

Then Hanabusa walks up to Haru and gives her her this.

Snapshot_3
Now I can read outside the lines pretty good. She’s going to kill her there.

Anyway after we get the opening we get this.

First rule in watching a serial killer: Watch them. Second rule:Repeat the first one!
First rule in watching a serial killer: Watch them. Second rule:Repeat the first one!

Otoya Takechi broke out! How the hell were you idiots not watching a serial killer?

And she coming after Haru!

After that we get Hanabusa preparing for the tea party, mixing various dry teas together. As someone who has a strong love for tea and coffee, I have never made my own tea from scratch. I guess it would good.

No poison as far as I can see}
No poison as far as I can see

Then after that we go to Haru and Tokaku in their room with Haru showering(not going to show you. She’s a cute girl but the scars don’t do it for me.)

Haru comments that she’s going to ask Hanabusa to give up to which Tokaku asks why. Haru says that Hanabusa might be thinking the same thing because she invited her to a tea party instead of giving her an advance notice.

Snapshot_7
Someone who’s thinking! And here I thought no one was going to say anything.

Anyway Tokaku tells Haru that just because Hanabusa is that last one left doesn’t mean that she should let her guard down. Can’t let your guard down if it was never up in the first place.

After a cute little apology from Haru, we switch scenes.

Oh my gosh, she's hot
Oh my gosh, she’s hot

Can anyone else see a resemblance here? If you can’t…

They look alike! Like Nio with longer hair or something. Mom and daughter, Niece and Aunt, or something. Heck in anime your grandmother can look about forty so it could grandma and granddaughter. The point is that I think that Nio and the Chairwoman are related in some way.

Anyway we get Mizorogi coming up to the chairwoman’s office(he ain’t let into the real office with all the secret cameras and stuff. No she’s too awesome and secretive for that.)

He asks if it’s his fault that the girls of the Black Class transferred out. The Chairwoman puts him at ease, telling him that he’s the perfect teacher and he should have more confidence in himself. Now this would sound sweet but remember Chairwoman was a assassin in the Black Class back in the day. She’s a good liar and probably feeding him some crap to get him off her butt.

Now get out there and teach those assassin girls!

Now after that we see Otoya sneaking on to the grounds. After that we see also that Hanabusa sent a dress for Haru to wear. Nice but not important.

This is important. Otoya gets outside of Haru and Tokaku’s room, scissors ready before this happens.

Snapshot_11
Looks Hanabusa caught her in the act. Oh but wait Hanabusa’s body is supposed to be weak so she can’t fight off the strong Otoya. Right?

Snapshot_12

Weak body, my ass! More like she’s freaking strong!

After breaking the scissors, she could just kill her but hey apparently Hanabusa’s a nice girl and she does this.

Snapshot_13
Now why do I feel that this isn’t so nice?

We hit the night and we have Tokaku and Haru riding up to the 99th floor for Hanabusa’s tea party.

Oh it looks like we have more guests other than Otoya.

Snapshot_14
Hanabusa brought them all back!!!
Well Nio isn’t there but hey.

Wait a second! Kirigaya and Chitaru are there. They’re supposed to be dead.

Snapshot_15
Hanabusa’s from Naruto obviously…she’s using the Puppetmaster Jutsu…

Then Hanabusa asks Tokaku a riddle.
Snapshot_16
I’m stumped.

Apparently Haru isn’t because she gasped. We’re getting close to when I can say one of the biggest secrets of Akuma no Riddle.

Anyway Haru asks if the game of the Black class will end today. She says she’ll make sure that she can grant her wish that the Academy would have granted for her.

Hanabusa laughs and says that only she can grant it but her wish is to be a stronger queen than Haru is. Another hint. One more and I’ll say it.

Hanabusa’s backstory is a lot like Haru, consistantly being the target of assassins. You can expect that since she’s the heir of a huge company.

So anyway…

Snapshot_17
No one should act all surprised and what not. We all knew it was coming. Now this is what we didn’t see coming.

Snapshot_18 Snapshot_19
Now that is unexpected.

Snapshot_20
Not let’s begin.

Then Hanabusa decides to go after Haru while some type of glass comes down to seperate the room but Tokaku pulls her back just as the glass comes down. Looks like it’s Tokaku Azuma vs. Sumireko Hanabusa from here on out!

She’s apparently from Naruto. She’s a puppet or a cyborg. I’ll keep saying puppet because that way I can keep making Naruto jokes. She’s Sasori’s daughter. She was born in the Hidden Sand…anyone. These any good?

Moving on.

Snapshot_29
I understand that you’re an assassin. You lie. That’s a part of the game and the job but come on. Weak body and you can break walls without even slowing down!

After Hanabusa’s utter wreakage we get this.

Turns out Hanabusa had a very similar childhood to Haru, constantly assassination attempts. The difference is that Haru kept her body. Sumireko’s was broken down to the point where it was useless. She had to be rebuilt with prothestics and had to relearn how to walk with them. Now if you know pride, you never can imagine how humilating it has to be to learn how to walk again and relearn how to do everything with your body. It’s embarrassing and Sumireko’s had that since she was a kid. No wonder she hates Haru.

As we continue with the battle between Tokaku and Sumireko we get this.

Snapshot_35
Looks like she’s back in the game!
She goes after Sumireko with a Kukri and she even gets a blow in before well you know how it is. Main character stuff…

Taking advantage of Otoya’s move Tokaku kicks in the Kukri and injures Sumireko but hey she’s a cyborg/puppet no harm.

Snapshot_36
Okay she’s got a new arm…

Then Sumireko talks about her earlier riddle where the rabbit and the worker bee are both willing to throw their lives away for the queen bee. The difference is that the worker never knows that it’s a worker bee.

There is it! That makes three! Now it’s time to come clean on the biggest secret of Akuma no Riddle, Haru’s Queen Bee effect.

Queen Bee is Haru’s ability to gather protectors to defend her from any type of harm, similar to how worker bees in a hive will throw themselves in the line of fire for the queen. However it’s an ability that works over time. It’s the reason why Haru has never had her guard up during this entire show. She was trying to turn the entire class into her protectors. It’s also speculated if not outright said right here that Tokaku’s under Haru’s Queen Bee effect. Bet ya didn’t expect that?

Moving on we got Otoya over by the wall when Nio comes out. She questions why she’s here and Otoya freaks out. I would too look at what’s she seeing.

Snapshot_38
Scares the shit out of me too.

After that Tokaku takes out the chandelier and lands it on Sumireko. What is she going to do in response?

Snapshot_39
She gave you what she gave her but harder!

After that Haru picks up a rocket launcher, blows out the door, and run down to the elevator. Oh come on Haru. You don’t go into the elevator when something’s chasing you.

Snapshot_41 Snapshot_43
Oh you clever girl…

Snapshot_44
Nice try but full points for the effort.

Haru runs out into the roof where Sumireko follows her. At this point the music changes and gives it a real Terminator feel to it. Good for the anime crew.

After she catches Sumireko gives her the spiel about how she was able to survive without worker bees to protect her all the time and how she’s the strongest. Can’t deny she doesn’t have a point. Haru would have been dead a loooooong time ago if she didn’t have pawns to throw in the way of the danger.

Anyway, Sumireko tries to snare Haru with some type of wire but Haru dodges. Haru grabs her and pulls her over the edge.

And this happens…

Snapshot_45 Snapshot_46
Haru ends this battle? Didn’t expect that.

After that Haru comes back into the room and Tokaku asks what did Sumireko meant by Haru being the Queen Bee. All she says it’s not the right time to tell her.

We end the episode with Nio standing over the hole that Sumireko fell through saying that she didn’t become a queen after all with a devious smile on her face.

Now that was a good episode. Didn’t expect Sumireko to be a cyborg thing though. These last few episode have definitely cut down on Nio’s funny parts and pulled out her scary raep faces. It’s clear she’ll be the final fight for Haru and Tokaku.

The next episode is “How to Distinguiush a ‘Congraluations’ from a ‘Curse'”. Now remember Haru and Tokaku think Nio’s just working for the Academy. They don’t know that’s she in the game too. Heck the chairwoman forgot until Nio reminded her and the chairwoman put the class together. Nio’s making her move next week. You don’t want to miss it.

Until next week,
Later Days.

Let’s Look:Date A Live 2 Episode 9: When Despair Comes To The Center Stage, The Birth of Inverse Tohka

Date A Live 2 Episode 9: When Despair Comes To The Center Stage, The Birth of Inverse Tohka

Keep going, Shido! Go as far as you can to save Tohka!

We open up with Kurumi vs. the DEM Wizards.

Snapshot_1

We get Origami’s immediate superior Ryouko looking down on the carnage that Kurumi’s bringing to the table before going to the next scene.

Shido’s exhausted and panting as he walks through the DEM Building, trying to find Tohka.

Snapshot_2 Snapshot_3

Can Shido go any further?

Now normally I don’t talk about the opening but the words said before the song starts are really important to the episode.

Sorry this is about to get speculative

And remember the opening for episode 10 last season.

Spirits are not human. Likewise, humans are not Spirits. But nevertheless… why is that? Shido Itsuka is confounded.

Now Spirits and humans aren’t the same. They may be similar but that’s nowhere near being the same thing. They’re from two different realms of power and those Spirit powers are taking a toll on Shido’s body right now, from a physical standpoint and a medical and spiritual standpoint.

Medically of course with Kotori’s healing power it might be subject to the Hayflick Limit, which is the limit of how many times cells can divide before dying. Healing is healing, no matter where it comes from. Everytime Shido uses Kotori’s healing power he forces cells to divide rapidly to put him back to normal and the bigger the injury the more cells divide.

So basically Shido’s cutting his life down by years during this battle and add to the fact all the physical stress that his body is taking using Sandelphon. I wouldn’t be shocked if he dropped from sheer exhaustion but he won’t drop. He’ll keep fighting to save Tohka. No matter the cost.

Let’s get back to the review.

After the opening we get Shido on the floor pressed down by a Territory before we get this.

Snapshot_7

It’s Miku! She came to help!

So now she’s got the DEM Wizards under her control then Yoshino, Kaguya, and Yuzuru fly up and ask what should they do? To which Miku tells them to basically up Kurumi against the Bandersnatch and Wizards outside.

As Shido and Miku walk, Shido asks why did Miku come? Was it for the promise he made her and the promise he made to Tohka. She says no but look at her face.

Snapshot_11

Mouth says no, face says yes. That’s human emotion for ya!

We head over to the battle between Mana and Jessica and Jessica’s just about lost her mind.

Mana speculates that she’s taken in a massive amount of magical power in a short amount of time. Looks like she’s going to be tough to beat.

Snapshot_15

Sneaky Ellen!

As if things weren’t already tough on every battlefield. Now it’s Mana vs. the most powerful Wizard in the World and one Wizard with the most powerful tech in the game!

She can’t go any further…

Snapshot_30

Mana!

Snapshot_31

Origami coming in down just in the nick of time!

We head back to Shido and Miku. After a little yuri seduction, they get Tohka’s location but of course those Wizards are going to get in their way.

After dealing with the Wizards Miku goes in on Shido, questioning his reasons for going to save Tohka. She says that he’s too old to think he’s a superhero that can save everyone. She even offers to enslave a bunch of girls to him if he gives up on Tohka. Now remember what I said. Shido’s struggling just to move and he’s shortening his life every time he heals. I’d give up at this point but what does he do?

Snapshot_40

Then Miku just gets childish, saying that Shido must be lying. She calls men her slaves, girls her dolls. Shido asks how could she hate people so much even when she’s human.

After that Miku gets even angrier as Shido asks what happened her. After saying he’s very persistent, Miku tells her story. She was an idol under the name Tsukino Yoimachi. She was at the top of the world then a TV manager took an interest in her and her manager told her to be nice to him. That type of nice. She refused and then the scandals came and her name was tossed through the mud and all her fans abandoned her. Finally she lost her voice forever and even comtemplated suicide before Phantom turned her into a Spirit.

The sad part about Miku’s story is that it is very much a reality for idols in Japan. Someone takes interest in you. If you accept then your career goes on but if you refuse it all goes away.

After that Miku explains that it was because those men she lost her dream, her passion. That’s why men are pigs in her eyes. But Shido doesn’t believe it for a second. There have to be a lot of fans that stuck with her after the scandals still loved her music.

Shido says that Miku’s created an image of humans and she can’t move forward thinking like that.

Someone’s hit the mark and Shido promises to seal Miku’s powers. She gets shocked that he’ll seal her voice since that means she won’t be able to sing again. Shido says that no matter what he’ll always listen to her and be a fan.

As they walk through the floors they keep arguing or rather Miku is talking in an annoyed tone and Shido’s just listening. It’s clear that Miku’s starting to fall for Shido.

Once we reach the 18th floor we flash to Origami vs. Ellen. Turns out that she stole a piece of unregistered equipment to get around the restrictions she had.

Nice. Don’t play the game, play the man or this case the woman. Take her off guard with a distraction and hit her! That’s Origami!

Snapshot_54

Well she gave it her best shot. Full points for effort. Ellen thought so. Something Ellen said got me.

Snapshot_55

So does that mean that no one in DEM thinks for themselves? Wescott’s doing all the thinking. That explains why all these Wizards are going to so far to stop the Spirits even this mission to take Tohka when she’s clearly not a threat while sealed shows that few people in DEM are thinking for themselves. I think max Origami, Ryouko and the now defected Mana have ignored orders.
Anyway looks like Ellen’s about to kill Origami. Well it’s been nice knowing you sweetie.

Snapshot_56

Just in time guys!

Snapshot_57

Okay I’ve never seen anyone cut Ellen during this entire anime and according to her it’s the only the second time anyone’s done it. Origami might be one of the most powerful Wizards in the world.

Snapshot_59

You got lucky, Origami.

We flash to Shido and Miku where they enter the room where Tohka is only to find Wescott. A threat, some strong words there, and he releases Tohka.

Man that was easy but puts down some type of glass to separate them.

Okay that was your move but he’s got freaking Sandelphon. It’s only going to take a second for him to cut through that glass.

Now I didn’t expect that.

Snapshot_70

Miku do something! Don’t just sit there and stare in shock! (She does just stare in shock for the rest of the episode)

Question. How the hell did she get in without Miku(who’s standing right at the door) not noticing?

Anyway Shido lays on the ground as Wescott gives the order for Ellen to kill Shido.

She can’t cut through glass…

Snapshot_71

There’s nothing we can do…

Snapshot_72

What’s happening? On the Fraxinus Kotori gets a report that Tohka’s levels have gone into the negative that means…

Snapshot_73

This is bad. Inverse Tohka!!!

The episode ends with the darkness that Tohka creates along with Wescott annoucing for mankind to prepare for the coming of the Demon King.

This is definitely an awesome episode. We’ve got good set up for the final episode of the season and we learned a lot about Miku. We’ve got awesome fights with Mana and Jessica and Kurumi vs. the DEM Wizards. More importantly we’ve got Inverse Tohka about to be born!

I can’t wait until next week but I have to so until next week
Later Days.
